The 1982 Championship game is on ESPN Classic right now. What a team. We should have won.

Ooh! thanks for the heads up! Turn it off in the last minute. Having seen it in '82, I will not watch the last 30 seconds ever again. (Besides, the Fordham game has got me angry enough.)

All due respect to Jordan but JT 2 and Patrick are BIG reasons why the Final Four and March Madness is so big today. Hoya Paranoia, the ominous coach and the manchild Center had America feeling like James Worthy, Sam Perkins, MJ and Jimmy Black were the underdogs and Georgetown the feared hunter. Everyone points to Freddies endgame pass but he also had some bad passes at key stages before that. To this day Eric SMith is one of my favorite athletes for his overall great play and his chasing down Worthy to foul him at the end. That is Hoya basketball.

I'm with you, DFW. As many times as I have watched that game, I have NEVER watched the last minute, especially since Fred Bown is one of my alltime favorite Hoyas. It's amazing how cat-quick Patrick was before his knee issues. Lots of future pros in that game. Just think, Jordan, Perkins, and Worthy on the same team! Those were the days...

Though that statement applies to Freddie, I meant Patrick, referring to Patrick's knee issues in the Pros. Probably should have made that clear...

On a related note, prior to making to the National Title Game, the 1982 team started out 1-2, losing to SW Louisiana and Ohio St. Just thought I'd point that out.

They also lost a game at McDonough, most recent one until last night. How did some cliche-minded columnist not pick up on this and the whole Ewing-Thompson beaten-to-death angle? (Oh wait, I think I did in my recap. ;D )

In speaking to my friend last night (HUGE Terps fan), he made the following unsolicited prediction: 2007 Championshp game will be a rematch of 1982----UNC v. GU--25 Years Later!!! I would LOVE that!
