I don't have a link, but there was an article in the paper today detailing the SEC=Big East basketball contract. It starts in December 2007 and involves four teams from each conference. If I remember correctly, next year's games are scheduled for Dec. 9th and 10th. The contract is for 3 years and is covered by ESPN with an option for an extra year. As far as the SEC is concerned, we have 12 teams and the contract calls for 4 teams SEC and Big East teams each of the years. At SEC media days they announced that all teams from the conference will be featured once. Te games are to be held at neutral sites and possible hosts include Tampa, Atlanta, Orlando and Charlotte. Has there been any comment on which Big East teams will participate? Since you have 16 teams, some will get left out. I was just curious. In any case, I am going to do everything I can to go whichever year Florida plays.

links to two articles are on the hoyasaxa.com bball page. great for both leagues, but without an available neutral site in DC, it looks like the hoyas will never get to play in DC. maybe a game in the garden. also, JTIII might not be interested the first year as dec. 9 is in exams. we have always seemed to try to schedule as few games, and only against winston salem state, during exams.

Next year's ninth is the weekend before exams start so they might still be willing to do it. We played illinois on the 8th last year. I think he'd still be willing to play. We play oral roberts this year who's no slouch and will win their league this year.

Any word on how the BE will decide which teams will be chosen and which years?

The greedy part of me thinks that the new coliseum in Jacksonville would be perfect. That's only about an hour and 15 minutes away.
In all seriousness, that new venue in Nashville got great reviews from everyone I have talked to. Certainly Nashville is a town capable of handling the crowds from 8 schools and once again from the greedy fan's perspective, there is a lot to do in Nashville. The fact that my best friend lives there as well certainly isn't weighing in my decision. Seriously ... it really isn't .... ok, maybe it is a pinch.
