A couple of q's, in the afterglow of the Wright verbal. 1. A poster at MDVarsity suggests ( link): Is this doable? 2. Are there plans to recognize Freeman / Wright / Braswell (?) / other tomorrow night? Are any NCAA rules going to be broken?

So now that Wright has signed, who is leaving, transfering, or pay for their college? We only got 13 schollys but now 14 for next years team.

The way I see it, it's not a question to worry about right now. Either the staff already knows what's going to happen at the end of the year, or they've got a plan for dealing with it.

The coaches know the scholarship situation and Im sure they are capable of handling it. As for acknowledging recruits, that can't actually happen since they havent been signed. Students can start a chant for them or something if they want, but I'm pretty sure the school can't officially recognize them until they have signed a letter of intent.

A couple of q's, in the afterglow of the Wright verbal. 1. A poster at MDVarsity suggests ( link): Is this doable? McDonough isn't big enough for a game of that magnitude. The crowd/parking situation would be out of control. They could maybe try at Catholic since it's closer to Hyattesville and is double the size. That's usually where they play the Gonzaga games when the Purple Eagles are ranked high. Plus, it would kinda suck for the schools considering that Hyattesville and St. John's are both 25 mins away from G'town or more. ...it would be kinda cool though.

Yes. I believe they have played DeMatha/St. Johns games at AU in the past because neither schools gym is really big enough for the amount of people. McDonough's really not all that big either but it would be a great environment. I would love to see that happen. BTW, all of these hundreds and hundreds of people coming out to see these Dematha/St. Johns games.... to the point where the gym is sold out during the JV game.... we ought to be getting all of these people to Hoya games in the future. No longer can we limit ourselves to just area Georgetown Alumni, we need to make/cultivate/bring back all of the area Hoya fans, those D.C. residents who like basketball in general and who will pull for the Hoyas. Chris and Austin are both hugely popular on the high school scene, and we really need to capitalize on that in terms of drawing ability. But that's for another thread. Officially, no. But can you stop zealous and passionate students from showing their appreciation for committs and recruits? You can try, but good luck.... ...

If the game were on a weekend or at night and the parking deck were utilized well, I think the parking could potentially work. It's true that McD is small compared to Catholic or AU, but I'd imagine its still as big as DeMathas gym or SJCHS's gym. So if the goal were to increase capacity it would be less than ideal, but if it were just to generate interest among Hoya fans and make the environment great, McDonough would be sweet. BTW, and I hate to put it this bluntly, but how pathetic is it that we're talking, rightfully, about our homecourt being too small to properly hold a HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME?

BTW, and I hate to put it this bluntly, but how pathetic is it that we're talking, rightfully, about our homecourt being too small to properly hold a HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME? I mean, when you consider it's about to hold a Midnight Madness in 2 days...that'll be interesting. Interesting idea about trying to market Georgetown to local DC high school fans. I wonder if there's some kind of issue in how you "capitalize on that in terms of drawing ability" wrt Freeman and Braswell. I also wonder how you'd go about that--season tix pitching seems too out there, group packages for games might work, lots of fans would be receptive to single game tix I bet if we pitched something specific, or do you kinda have to let that work itself out and the locals start coming on their own? WRT McDonough as a venue though, I think it's probably better to hold it at a gym that's (a) bigger, since there's enough demand, and (b) closer to both schools. That game's for their fans first and foremost after all, not GTown's. Even if it's not intended, there has to be an element of "wouldn't that be great for Hoya fans" in the poster's allusion to "atmosphere at McDonough". Heck though, I'd go in a second to AU or Catholic if I had the time, and I'm sure a bunch of us would/should be encouraged to do so.
