SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 23, 2006 -- StubHub, the fans' ticket marketplace, has signed agreements with two more Washington D.C. area teams to help benefit Beltway fans with greater access to see their high-demand teams play. Both the Washington Redskins of the NFL and Georgetown Hoyas of the Big East Conference have agreed to long term partnership arrangements with StubHub, aligning themselves with the nation's only open and guaranteed ticket marketplace where fans can buy as well as sell their tickets. My question is:
Although this sounds like it will 'guarantee' landing tickets in the hands of 'Hoyas fans', how can anyone be certain of that?
What it likely does do, however, is equate to more revenue, that is currently uncaptured, flowing back to the Athletic Dept.

Just wanted to say that i have had problems with StubHub in the past. Twice i have bought tickets to an event only to have StubHub double sell those supposed tickets. In one case they offered me tickets in a worse section yet didn't offer me a refund of the price differential. Essentially they said "we screwed up and gave your tickets away but we got these other tickets which we think are better but are a lower face. you still have to pay what you paid originally"

Totally unrelated Stub Hub story but here goes:
Need proof that the Yankees are evil? They have a partnership with Stub Hub - Stub Hub even advertises on the air during radio broadcasts, saying "can't use your tickets? stub hub dot com!"
Well...we split seasons with a family friend. Neither of us could use the seats, so the guy whose name the tickets are in, put them on Stub Hub. 3 weeks later, a letter from the Yankees arrives at his office:
We have found out that you are selling tickets on Stub Hub. This is in direct violation of your ticket purchasing contract with the NY Yankees, which states that reselling tickets is forbidden. We will be terminating your license to buy season tickets with the NY Yankees effective immediately. You will not be eligible to buy playoff tickets for the 2006 postseason.
I'm a huge Yankee fan...but perhaps Lucchino wasn't far off in dubbing them the Evil Empire.

Were you selling them at face value or for a premium?

my father won't let his cubs tickets too far from the family for fear of them showing up on e-bay/stubhub.

He put them up at face - it was an afternoon game. I think the Yankees are trying to reclaim a bunch of seats for the new Stadium opening up in '09. it's a real shady operation. I think my old man and I are going to buy seasons now, he'll just give the tickets he can't use to patients or something. Gold, your old man is wise. Keep them close to the vest, it's a long wait to get good seats if you get thrown to the bottom of the pile. my father won't let his cubs tickets too far from the family for fear of them showing up on e-bay/stubhub.
