I missed yesterday but from what I have read, today was similar.
The Tombs vs. Myers Altermann (?) game was pretty sloppy but mainly because the refs decided they wanted all the attention. Both Macklin and Green fouled out (Green got a Technical after arguing a call). I dont have my stat sheet with me, doh, but I can guess at the points and shots line for the most part.
Green - 26 points, 12/17 overall, 2/3 from 3
Wallace - 8 points, 3/10 overall, 1/7 from 3 (ouch)
Macklin - 10 points, 5/10 overall
Summers - 16 points, 6/13 overall, 2/4 from 3
Rivers - 10 points, 5/11 overall, 0/4 from 3
Egerson - 5 points, 1/4 overall, 4/5 free throws
Spann - 16 points, 2/9 overall, 0/4 from 3, 11/14 free throws
Highlights
-Green dominated on offense and got handled on D by GMU forward Will Thomas who did as he pleased and probably scored 30 points.
-Spann was VERY aggressive and although a at times out of control, he showed he can drive hard and make teams foul him.
-I caught the tailend of the CUTS game (PE JR.) and the more games I see the more I think Summers will start. He attacks the basket well and can shoot the 3. A lot of times he looks a bit out of control but he never really loses it. With some good coaching (which the Hoyas have) his move selection will improve and he will be a great player.
-Rivers is a solid player who can most definately take it to the hoop and dish out some assists. Probaly the 1st guard off the bench because his defense is really good.
Lowlights
-Will Thomas taking the basket at will and everyone in the gym knowing it.
-Wallace 1-7 from 3. Although his shot selection was good and he kept shooting which I thought was good. A sign of a good shooter is one that keeps taking good shots even when they are missing, or so I am told. Its clear that Wallace knows he is an important outside threat this year.
Tombs lost by the way, 81-71. They led at the half 36-33 I think after jumping out to a huge lead early M&Y came back on the shooting of Folarin Cambell and Thomas's play.
