Surprised? I am.
Pittsnogle has the bad luck of being useless down low and not playing in Greece, Croatia, or Durham which doomed his chances.
But Gansey must have been awful in workouts or something because I can't believe he fell all the way out of this draft.

The Knicks were going to pick Pittsnogle and then they found out that he wasn't undersized enough to play forward for them.

well, how about that stat bilas dropped on us last night.
he claimed that Pittsnogle has 20% BODY FAT!!!
That is just plain absurd for a potential pro athlete.
I wonder if he replaced that fat with muscle his athleticism would've improved.....

Some guy posted on a random draft board that if pittsnogle had the same size and skill, but was a random european hardly anyone had ever heard of or seen play, he almost certainly would have been drafted at least in the 2nd round. Can't say I disagree, but strange how that works.

How is he all that different from Steve Novak, who went in the first few picks of the 2nd round?

I can't figure it. Pittsnogle certainly DRESSES like a first round draft pick. . . tinyurl.com/km5agAs for Gansey, teams probably figured his size & strength would be hampered by the NBA's "no multiple t-shirt" rule.

I actually see them as very different players. Pittsnogle is a forward/center who can't play near the basket - Novak is a guard who doesn't play near the basket - one of those is a problem.

Novak can't be a two -- can you imagine him covering ANY nba shooting guards? as someone pointed out last night, he really is matt bullard.

Yeah, if you think Novak can play the two you're dreaming. I agree with the Matt Bullard comparison.

Not surprised about Gansey not being selected. At least Novak is taller and can get his shot off better...6'6 vs. 6'4 for shooters is a big difference in the NBA. Novak is more Kyle Korver IMO and will make a team. Both are more 6'6 and can get the shot off.
Pittsnogle was a surprise to me that he didn't get drafted. If Michael Doleac and Bullard can play in teh NBA then Pittsnogle can too. He is a real weapon in terms of drawing a big man away from the basket to guard him. He's tall and strong enough to defend a little and can spread out the floor. Maybe he is out of shape, but name a better 6'11 shooter in the draft? He has a unique skill that translates to teh next level.
Phoenix should get him...nice fit.

Novak is a better shooter and rebounder than Pittsnogle.

Agreed. I love Novak at the next level. He's a carbon copy of Kyle Korver.
I'm not certain Pittsnogle won't be a better rebounder at the next level. WV had a style that spread everyone out...no turnovers...forget about rebounding and get back on D. He could be a guy that actually gets better at the next level in a new style.
Gansey was an excellent college player that won't make it at the next level. The European leagues are littered with Gansey.

Novak is also 6'11". He isn't Kyle Korver. You must be thinking of somebody else, FOTP.

I love how a bunch of you are not surprised Gansey didn't go. Even though just about every mock draft had him somewhere between the end of the first round and the middle of the second. Amazing foresight. I think it's crazy that guys like James White and Soloman Jones go and Gansey, Pittsnogle and Ray don't. Is Randy Foye really that much better than Allan Ray?
