The Hoyas had an all-star every year since 1986 (Ewing, Sleepy, Dikembe, 'Zo, and AI).
But Dikembe and 'Zo aren't long for the league, and AI is entering his second decade.
So will the streak continue?

I voted for Roy.
I think that even on the NBA level Jeff will always be an underated player. Don't get me wrong, Jeff will likely be a better player than Roy, but how many big men stiffs are there and how many good 3/4's are there in the Association?
PS LOL at the "salad". ;D

Though someone like Roy or Jeff may be the one to restart it, I think the streak stops when AI misses his first one. (Which will likely be the result of injury).

Roy first, then Green, then Freeman - possibly another cool shot of 3 all starts with a Coach Thompson at an NBA All-Star Game in McDonough.

If Roy keeps improving it could be him, but I'd probably bet on Jeff being the one to carry the torch. Summers and especially Freeman are also very likely to be allstars.

I'd put my money on Green because while Roy probably will be a solid player in the league (like an Ilgauskas), Jeff has much more explosiveness that will be much more intriguing to the average NBA fan (who will end up voting in the all-star ballots).

I don't think any 2006 kid with the exception of possibly Oden and Durant is "very likely" to make an all star game going by historical records. They both should worry about making the NBA and then worry about being a starter and then worry about being one of the top 25 players in the league - each step in that process is pretty damn hard. I'm not giving up on Sweetney, personally. All star is a stretch, but there's something there folks. In reality, Roy has the best shot here because the competition for the center spot is always the weakest. That's why guys like Jamal Magliore and Nazr Mohhamed have all star appearances to their credit.

I wouldn't say Durant is very likely. Guy looks like Rashard Lewis to me -- and I missed his All-Star appearance.
Oden is very likely. None of our players have over a 50% chance to make an All-Star game, I don't think. Maybe Roy. There just aren't a lot of good centers.

2005 was Lewis' all-star appearance by the way.
Oden might be out all this year with his wrist. I can't even say he's very likely until that sorts itself out.
I think Hibbert has the best chance by far. When Shaq retires it's pretty much Yao and a bunch of guys casual fans wouldn't know on the street at center. Brad Miller has not one but TWO appearances. 'Nuff said.

I think it's a bit early to start speculating about this - it's a long, long voyage from 2nd Team All-Big East, for Roy and Jeff, to the NBA All-Star Game. First, they have to have strong junior and possibly senior seasons. Then, even if they are lottery picks, that doesn't guarantee playing time. It could take a few years in the league before they are even considered for a spot, and then they really have to perform at a very high level.
I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm just saying it'll probably take some time and a lot of things have to go right. I'm not sure if Jeff and Roy are immediate impact players, but we know they are talented, have solid fundamentals, and their continued development could mean great things for Georgetown and whatever NBA team decides to draft them.
Then again, a lot of this depends on how long AI will last. And whether Sweetney can start eating salads and take his game to the next level.

I say Roy will be first, just because great centers are fewer and farther in between. Only ones right now that are automatic All-Stars that i can think of are: Shaq, Yao, and Ben Wallace. So i think Roy has a better shot at becoming top center, than Jeff at his position. Either way, i can see both making it eventually.

I certainly dont think they'll all be all stars, but I definitely think at least one of them will be.

I certainly dont think they'll all be all stars, but I definitely think at least one of them will be. Maybe Roy does, simply because there are so few good centers - but his chances are certainly lower than 50 percent. Summers and Freeman I have no comment on - they need to play in college before I can make a good guess. I'd say Jeff's chances are maybe 10% at best. I can't imagine him ever scoring 20 a game or getting 10 boards in the NBA, and if you can't do one of those you won't make the All-Star team as a PF (and yes, he'll be a PF in the NBA). Jeff can be a good solid player, but I don't think he's likely to put up the numbers to be an All-Star.

Once Shaq leaves the center position will go to Okafor or Dwight Howard in the East. I hope Roy can get in there somewhere though......
