Our attendance is only going to get better. Reports in late April suggested that YA tickets were being sold fast and furious. Hopefully we can sell out the lower bowl (or most of it) through season tickets so we have an even stronger base for the cupcakes in December.

Attendance went up significantly after the Duke win. Before then, we were pretty much behind last year's pace.
We need to keep the positive vibes going- let's make this really sizzle!

That's pretty impressive that our attendance grew that much in one year. For those of us who went to every game, you could really see and feel the transformation of the crowd. We're bigger, louder, much more positive, and there's an almost palpable energy in the air.
Is it October yet?

You can see it in a lot of places - on this board for example - we're not cannibalizing each other like some boards I know of (cough cough Twerps cough cough). No transfers. A big recruiting class and more behind it. Also Steve Alleva has told me that he has already reached the number of new Young Alumni ticket sales that he was at in October of last year in the first month of sales. Pretty sweet to be a Hoya right now.

I think we'll be over 12k next year, even without a Duke game to help.

Oregon, Navy and JMU better watch out. If we win early attendance will mushroom. If we struggle early it will dip- we should be wary of letting early struggles stifle our momentum here!

I think with the Roy/Jeff/Like Father Like Son hype we'll have attendance close to the Iverson years which would be good news...
...the bad news is of course that's still 7500 seats short of filling the Grand Canyon we play in.

Being realistic that's ok - the one thing I can't stand is visiting fans getting seats anywhere but the upper deck - if we can keep them there I'll be very happy.

That's ok though. Baby steps. Everything appears to be headed in the right direction. It's tough to even fathom 20,000 Hoya fans right now, so it'd be tough to get 20K all in one place. The YAs are key, because they are like an extension of the student section in a lot of ways. Not only are they Hoya fans in seats, but they actually make noise which is great. If we can add more Young Alums, and keep selling out the student section, the environment is definitely going to be more fun and better for the team, and that's good, because that only makes the event more appealing and that'll bring more people in time. Like Jersey, I dream of Georgetown fans dominating the lower bowl. It's tough to forsee a day when WVU, SU, Duke etc. fans are boxed out of the building completely. However, I'd just like to see their presence minimized by selling more season tickets to GU fans and by only having opposing fans upstairs--preferably, the 400 sections only. On some level, I'm cool with that. I think that the presence of noisy opposing fans motivates our fans to make some more noise, and makes the in-game atmosphere more intense... plus it's better that the Athletic Dept. can make some money. I just don't wanna see that bright yellow (WVU) or orange sitting in the section next to me.

RB - It might make you happy to hear that the YA section is on track for another big increase in size when compared to last year's record sales.

I expect you and all the others to really make an impact, and participate in the cheers just like you have these past 4 years. As our Crystal City dorm captain, we (Hoya Blue) believe and expect that you will be a huge asset both inside the arena and out .

I'll be doing most of my flyering at Crystal City Restaraunt if that's ok with you all. And yes, the YA section will be loud next year. I guarantee it.

Did Men's Basketball make money this year? If we don't know that now, when will we?

Did Men's Basketball make money this year? If we don't know that now, when will we? The only way we would know that is either from someone on the inside - and this is not information that they give out easily or from a tax return. But, in general, since Georgetown is a private school it is not obligated to share numbers in the same way that a state school would be expected to do so.

Schools are required to publicly disclose revenues and expenses per the Equity in Athletics reports that are posted online. Schools may choose how to allocate expenses, and it does vary between public and private schools, but the EADA reports are a public resource. www.ope.ed.gov/athletics/InstList.asp

Define "make money": if you mean did the program's ticket sales, donations, advertising etc outweigh its costs, schollies, incidentals, thus taking away the need for institutional support from the University?
I don't think that has happened, ever.
