Just purchased my YA tickets. Talked to Steve Alleva - who is a god send yo have in McDonough - he said that sections 120 and 121 of the young alumni section might already be sold out and 121 has a waitlist - so it looks like the YA section is going to expand again this year. Things are looking good for eclipsing last year's number of season tickets sold. Its great to be a Georgetown Hoya ...

Talked to Steve Alleva this morning, and his phone has been ringing off the hook. I believe the current drive is for graduating seniors, but I may be wrong. It would be great to sell out the entire lower bowl to season ticket holders.

Got my YA tickets right at 9 this morning. Do people who had them last year carry over into better seats, or will mine be really good since I was probably one of the first to order?

Not sure - what I think Steve said on the phone was that 120 and 121 are full right now and preference goes to those who had the YA tickets last year and renew - but the athletic department might be overhauling seating at the Verizon Center anyways - so people who bought their tickets today bought a "best available" seat.

So just a wait and see - thanks for the info. Any idea of when we usually hear what seats we get? Steve said "this summer" . . .

I called Steve at around 11 but he didn't mention anything about 121/120 being sold out. He just stated that I was near the front of the "best available" list. As long as I'm in the lower bowl, I don't really care where I'm at as long as it's in the building.
It sounds like demand is going to be quite strong for tickets, so hopefully we won't have to deal with opposing fans like last year. Steve said the more season tickets we sell, the less of a problem that will be, hopefully intoning that they will bump the opposers to the middle deck if we can sell out the lower bowl.

The next step in the process is ensuring that our season ticket holders do not put the tix up on EBay, where they can be purchased by opposing fans. This seemed to be a slight problem last year.

So when will they make available the form for ordering students tickets. I know last year i got mine in the mail with all my other freshman orientation packages. Will they mail one out over the summer or was that just for freshman?

If history is any guide, your first opportunity will be during move-in. They have not usually posted student order forms online, although it would be a great idea and could generate some sales among upperclassmen before NSO/move-in.

Yep, this drive is intended to target the class of 2006, and the ticket is only for "best available." The seating will be figured out in another month or two when they determine who is renewing and where they are sitting.

Will they mail one out over the summer or was that just for freshman? Best bet will be move-in. Last year they mailed them out to freshmen in the New Student pack (in June or so) but then didn't mail them out to sophs, juniors and seniors until well after the semester was underway (I want to say that they arrived at our homes sometime in mid to late september--well after all of us were on campus, and many people had already bought their season tickets). We'll see if the Athletic Dept. is on the ball enough this year to get them out to all grades during the summer. If not, you can get them during NSO when you're helping with tabling .

All returning students should buy them from Hoya Blue--we got a small cut of each package we sold this year, which helped us fund a lot of stuff.

The next step in the process is ensuring that our season ticket holders do not put the tix up on EBay, where they can be purchased by opposing fans. This seemed to be a slight problem last year. In that regard Jersey, BenedictArnold College established on password-protedted online forum where BAC season ticket holders could sell tickets they were not going to use to other BAC fans. I forwarded the info to Steve and it might be a topic to bring up again.

I assume those tickets were going for face value, although I could be wrong. Obviously, that will cut down on some of the problem, but I have a feeling that some of the problem relates to opportunists who look to pay for their season tix through EBay proceeds. It could also be a problem involving opposing fans who buy season tix for the purposes of good seats at a few games of interest. There's only one solution for them --> flogging in Red Square.
