If we get 'Nova down here I want you both with me at Clyde's. Then we will terrorize their fan base for 3 solid hours!

Now you're talking my language. As Prov once caused a young Nova alumna to cry by responding to her cries of "Wildcats never die!!!" with "What about Jake?"

I generally agree with Hoya Chris' list including putting this year's Duke win ahead of all the games we both witnessed in the 70's (I did not see the 84 DePaul win). It took a lot for the Duke game to move past that great Detroit game, but it matched it for 40 minutes of intensity and surpassed it for national significance and spectacle. I also like Dan's last second Esh game-winner over GW . Here are some more major home wins from the 70's:
1.12/19/70--96-79 over Lefty's Terps with Jim O'Brien and Howard White. The last gasp from the post NIT Hoyas before heading into a two-year funk under Jack Magee. Provided some optimism and hope for me as an incoming frosh. Of course, the Terp's freshman team with McMillan, Elmore and Trimble was the best team that played that night and foreshadowed the near-term future of the two programs.
2.12/6/72--73-70 over St. Bonaventure. The first win for the St. Anthony's crowd over a name eastern power not far removed from the Bob Lanier era. High hopes for Smith, Wilson, Brooks and JT II were brought to earth quickly when I went on a road trip to NY to see us lose on campus to St John's 109-68 on 12/9/72. Still, the Bonnies' win was the beginning.
3. More than one home win over the Ronny Perry led Crusaders in McDonough in the late 70's on Saturday night in a packed house with spirited representation from a respected rival learning a lesson in what became known as Hoya paranoia.

1992-93 season vs. Seton Hall. Hall was ranked at the time - Top Ten, I think. Fan of the Game, FreeNachos, a few others (tgo might have been among the group as well) and I were ragging Danny Hurley unmercifully with "You're not Bobby" chants, to the point where Danny - on his way off the court at the end of the game - offered up a "F**k you guys!". Good times....

I always knew you were old, GP.
By the way, it was a last-second Esh game-tie-er against GW. The only reason that game beats this year's Duke game is that it was in my first year at the scorer's table and things are always more grandiose when you are a student. Agree fully on the greater national significance and spectacle of the Duke game though.

1. February 1992. Georgetown 60, UConn (#21) 58
"John Thompson jumped for joy Wednesday night and the entire Capitol Centre seemed to shake. With the score tied, 58-58, with seven seconds to play, Georgetown's Joey Brown picked up a loose ball that had caromed off the head of a Connecticut player. Brown looked up at the clock, then streaked downcourt with his Hoya teammates waving him on as if he were a defensive back on his way to the winning touchdown."
2. December 1990. Georgetown 79 Duke(#5) 74. Big East - ACC Challenge.
3. February 1989. Georgetown 84 UConn (#4) 64. Last home game for Tillman and Dwayne Bryant.

Still the January 17, 1970 win against Columbia. The loudest crowd at any sporting event I have ever witnessed. They had 2 All-America candidates and we weren't that well thought of.
The Memphis game has been mentioned. A great comback win in the second half at USAir. Othello had a great game and was hitting everything. AI did his thing and Joe Touomou was a defensive force in the second half. Memphis did have a dunk fest in the first 20 minutes but went ice cold after intermission. Lots of highlight moments.

MOD NOTE: you may think they are funny, but please keep the blatantly sexist posts off board. This is not an all-male lockerroom.

3. February 1989. Georgetown 84 UConn (#4) 64. Last home game for Tillman and Dwayne Bryant. That would be February 1990 if it was Tillman and Dwayne Bryant's last home game.

From 1983- 2003 I might have missed one home game. My wife caught me going to the UConn game on our wedding anniversity. Needless to say, I am no longer married. LOL. The best game that I went to was a game that was played at McDonough because of the snow storm we experienced. In the 1983-84 season we were to play Providence at the USAir arena, but because of the weather they rescheduled it at Georgetown. I walked from downtown and it was completely sold out. I did get in and sat on the floor at the far end of the gym on the baseline. Otis Thorpe was a man-child and it was a great physical game. Patrick was the man over and over again. The place was electric. If there is still a BlackFrancis on the board and you have my Georgetown and Iverson tapes, please email me at GRZell4. This is the original LTM- Listen to me. Georgetown Forever. BlackFrancis has morphed into Frank Black. He haunts this board still.

Best game I saw in person was against the Gamecocks in the old Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, S.C. when Braswell hit the game winner at the end.

And you wonder why more girls aren't on the board? Duke game this year, for reasons already stated.

Excellent point, Bridget.
A good time to remind many of you who post here to try to self-police on the sexist comments. It's really unwelcoming to the many women who read, and then subsequently don't post on, the board.
