As bad as we were last year I am not afraid, nor ever will be afraid of:
BC, West Virginia, Rutgets, Nova, Providence, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Notre Dame, Pitt...
Yes, read that last one again. I will never, ever, ever be afraid of Pitt. They are a good team, don't get me wrong, but I honestly believe that we can play them close. If we play smart, we can beat them. As for the rest, all of them are extremely beatable. Am I expecting us to win, no, not all of them, but they strike no fear in my heart whatsoever. None.

I have one problem with this poll. Not that I would choose it because I went with 7-9 (being my optimistic self) but there should at least be an option for 9 or more wins. While it may be almost impossible this season, its never out of the equation if you are playing 16 games and it should at least be available as a choice.

I am assuming you meant we will beat Nova at home. I didn't look over our schedule but Nova on the road twice didn't sound like a reasonable option. I also should have put up more options for 9-7 & up but the poll spots were limited and I started at the bottom.

I know there's a limited number of options you can put up but you probably should have gone with 8 or more in that case.

Don't want to jump all over [edited: sorry, I meant Columbia], but I'm with 2007 on this one. I don't know if you can edit the poll after its been created, but I'd think you could probably drop 1-15 and 2-14. Maybe you can have an option for "3-13 or worse" and then have one that's "9-7 or better."
I know we have a lot of pessimists on this board (or maybe they're not pessimists, maybe they're realists), but I'd be surprised if ANYONE thinks we are going to win only one or two. I think that's even MORE unlikely than getting on a good roll and finishing just on the sunny side of .500.
Last year was our worst year ever in the Big East and we still managed to win four. Yes, I know, Miami isn't around anymore, but I don't buy any argument that says we take away two wins because they're gone. As posters much smarter than I have pointed out, there are plenty of teams in this conference who we don't need to cower away from. We'll get those wins back somewhere else.
Call me Butters if you want, but I'll always start any season thinking that we can go 16-0 until another team proves me wrong. Will that actually happen? Almost certainly no, but its never impossible. I think its realistic though that we could be as low as 5 wins, but also as high as 9 or -- what the hell -- even 10.
Aynway, you probably can't change the poll now, so don't worry about it. Just try not to disenfranchise us optimists, yeah? ;D
On a different but somewhat related note, being realistic is OK, but I don't want to see any Hoya fans EVER predicting that we will lose to Syracuse. I don't care what the recent record says and I don't care if they've got their All-Time team on the court while we're suiting up 5 Ollies from Hoosiers. That's just plain wrong! Maybe you only see four wins for the Hoyas this year. Fine. But one of those four wins you're predicting better be against those jagovs in upstate NY.
Of course, its possible that I may feel a little more strongly about this than others.

We also always play well against the Orangebunnies. Even in our worst seasons, we often juice 'Cuse.
I'm with Boz -- everybody needs to up their count by one!
Predictions are admitting defeat. I think my Hoyas can beat anyone, anytime. (Although I'll be happy to moan AFTER it doesn't happen...)
Hoya Saxa! And let's start off with a barnburner, and blow out Temple. Might as well humiliate them, as well as post the 1-0...

Haha, I chose 6-10, what was I thinking? And Columbia implying in his poll that it would NOT be possible to go better than 8-8 this year? HA HA HA!! (EDIT: 500 posts, woohooo!!! ;D)

I was saying 7-9, 8-8 if we got some breaks. Nothing could be sweeter than being wrong!

I voted for 8-8 in this poll, and in the fundraising pool fiasco that ended up sinking, I was going to go out on a limb and pick 9-7. But to be 7-3, with a legitimate shot at winning 10 BE regular season games (I know, one game at time!), I don't think anyone was quite that optimistic, except for one poster, who slips my mind now, but who insisted that JT III would bring us back to the tourney right away - who was that? I wish it was me, but I think that guy has a one-way ticket to MEGAFANLAND!
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! WIPE OUT WEST VIRGINIA!

ok, people, you're not supposed to be voting now! This was a preseason prediction and now people have added votes. The point is to see how great our team has been playing and how magical this season is!!!

I would say yes, the Hoyas will go 6-10, if not better. If you figure 2 wins each against St. Johns, Rutgers, a win at home against Seton Hall and WV-there's six right there. I think this team has the potential to win more games than that. They can beat Nova at home (7) as well as Providence (which hasn't looked to good in the preseason) in the final home game of the year, when the Princeton offense is running at full speed and Green, Wallace and Hibbert have basically a fully conference schedule under their belt. That's 8 wins, for a .500 record. And well, to be honest, I think this team has some upset potential(provided Bowman shows up against a good team), what w/ the new offense, the real coach and the freshman talent. .500 should be the goal for the Hoyas this year. If they go 6-10 or 7-9, well, that's progress. If they don't go at least 6-10, then something went seriously wrong. That was my assesment coming into BE play. 8-8 in BE play and the NIT. And if you'd offered me that at the beginning of the year, I'd have been estatic. Now, I think if the Hoyas don't make the tournament they collapsed. What an amazing year and what an amazing job by JT3. /and I had time to look this up b/c everyone else is watching the Super Bowl and I'm stuck at work til 7pm. Ten minutes til FOOOTBALL
