Now the other thread is locked. In any case this should clear it up ...
I was serious in that the National Perception has been wrong all year. First we weren't any good, by the fact that we weren't even listed in the top 30. Then we won 14 games in a row to move up to #2 in the Country. At that point we certainly weren't worthy of that ranking. After 3 more wins against mediocre opponents, we finally lost to Tennessee on the road. It started a stretch where we went 5-6 over an 11 game stretch, including a 3 game losing streak. After that run, the National "experts" determined that they had been right in the first place and that our hot start was a "fluke." They dropped us all the way to #25. Since then we have won 7 straight games, 5 of those coming against NCAA tournament teams and only one of them at home. Lost in this is the fact that we were banged up during that bad stretch. The major injuries were to Brewer and Humphrey, but Noah also missed some time. The point is that we never were the "bad" team that "everyone" thought. I also don't think we were anywhere near the #2 team in the Country back in January. But accordingly, we weren't the team that was represented by the banged up version for a few weeks. Now we are healthy and playing like we should. The perception of this team has changed so dramatically in both directions and it just isn't the case.
That was the first part of my post and that part is the honest opinion that I have on the situation.
The second paragraph was the sarcastic part. Yes I think we will win but it is far from any sort of a "gimme." When I said that you guys "could probably keep it within 20" ... that was the obvious joking part.
Clear now?
