I have heard that you go 10 deep. Is that true and if so, how are the minutes generally broken down? Do you have 5 guys who play 30 a game and 5 who play around 10?
We run 9 deep, but so far it has been 8 in the post season. Our freshman shooting guard, David Huertas has played virtually none since the regular season.
Specifically, what kind of depth do you have behind Hibbert? I think that might be our best advantage. We have four quality big men, any of which can play the 5. I think we will bang Hibbert and run him. If we can get him tired or in foul trouble it should be a big advantage I think. What do you all have to say?

I think you have heard wrong. Look at the game against Ohio State. We only got 7 in the game, and I wouldn't expect us to go deeper than about 7-8 against Florida unless we have some serious foul issues.

That was what one of the analysts said. I honestly haven't paid a lot of attention to you guys this year. I did thoroughly enjoy watching you beat Duke on that Saturday afternoon in January though.
What is your depth like inside?

We don't play 10 guys. We play 7, with 6 guys averaging between 25-32 minutes (off the top of my head): Cook, Wallace, Bowman, Green, Hibbert, and Owens (first off the bench). Our 7th guy to get significant minutes is Jessie Sapp, who probably sees about 15 minutes a game. None of our other guys get too much run, although you might see guys like Egerson, Crawford, or Kilkenny-Diaw in for certain specific situations.
We don't really have another center to back Hibbert, per se, but instead, when Roy is out, Jeff switches over to the 5 and we bring Owens in off the bench to play the 3, and Brandon moves to the 4.
I wouldn't put too much into getting Hibbert into foul trouble; to the best of my knowledge, he's fouled out of one game all year (vs. Northern Iowa, where the last 2 fouls came in the final 2 minutes of the game and his 5th was complete bs). But in the event you do get him into foul trouble, we'd just go with a smaller lineup (with a frontcourt of Owens, Bowman, and Green).

I would say that we are not very deep inside but that we are flexible.
If Jeff, Roy, or Brandon get in foul trouble or need to rest we can run a variety of line ups with Jeff at PF or C, or Brandon at SF or PF. Owens can also play the SG or SF as well.
However if Roy and Jeff need to go out simultaneously for whatever reason then we are in a bit of trouble and our 8th man goes in who is serviceable but not an offensive threat by any means.
We basically run 7 guys and the 8th usually only for seconds at a time and that doesn't even happen ever game.

Thanks for the info. Yet another CBS goof I guess.
It sounds like your lineup is very similar to ours. We have Taurean Green at the point and Lee Humphrey at the SG. Corey Brewer at the 3, Joakim Noah at 4 and Al Horford at center. Our main 3 off the bench are Adrian Moss and Chris Richard inside and Walter Hodge at either guard spot. But just as you mention, flexibility is a strength for us as well. Any of the four bigs can play the 4 or 5. Noah is a little on the light side and could certainly get pushed around some by someone like Hibbert, but he offsets this to a degree with tremendous reach on his 6'11" frame and incredible instincts on timing. Horford and Noah also run as well as any tandem of big men that I remember. Richard and Moss off the bench are very good rebounders with limited offensive skills. Richard actually led the SEC in FG%, but you won't see him listed there since he didn't have enough attempts. He finished over 70% and was hovering around 80% most of the season. But he would go 3-4 with all three layups or putbacks.

Speaking of the Hoyas' bench, what happened to Egerson's playing time?

Speaking of the Hoyas' bench, what happened to Egerson's playing time? My first thought was that his loss of playing time was somehow related to the Philadelphia Lutheran Christian Acadamy controversy. The basic timeline for that story was: 2/12 - WashPost breaks story about Phil. Luth., lists M. Egerson as a graduate 2/16 - WP reports NCAA looking into it 2/25 - NYTimes posts similar story, includes infamous quote from Marc's old HS coach 3/5 - WP drops the bomb on GW and Omar Williams Looking at Marc's playing time (along with Tyler, who played roughly the same role this year) since the Duke game (1/21): Opp. (Date) - ME min ; TC min; comments Duke (1/21) - 3 ; 0 ND (1/24) - 4 ; 0 ; 2OT Cinci (1/28) - 8 ; 3 ; blowout win DePaul (1/31) - 9 ; 1 ; blowout win Pitt (2/5) - 5 ; 0 SJU (2/9) - 9 ; 3 ; blowout win WVU (2/12) - 0 ; 1 MU (2/16) - 4 ; 1 VU (2/19) - 3 ; 0 RU (2/22) - 0 ; 1 SU (2/25) - 1 ; 1 SFU (3/4) - 0 ; 0 NDU (3/8) - 1 ; 0 ; BET MU (3/9) - 0 ; 2 ; BET SU (3/10) - 0 ; 1 ; BET NIU (3/17) - 0 ; 3 ; NCAA tOSU (3/19) - 0 ; 0 ; NCAA UF (3/24) - 0 ; 0 ; NCAA So Marc has played since the stories came out. By my eye, his playing time dropped significantly after the Villanova game, which was a week after the story broke. He only has 2 minutes since then. Obviously I have no idea what the reason is for his PT drop, but since he has played since the story broke, including on 3/8, well after the fact, it appears that it's either matchups or performance related, rather than something more sinister.
