Please Hoyas, I'm begging you, by 4:30 i want to hear Digger frantically backtracking off his pick of ND to make some noise in NYC, and see his face grow as bright green as that ugly tie he had on last night!

did they show him after the game? i had to leave right after the buzzer so i missed the postgame. i was hoping they'd get his reaction to yet another horrendous call on the sleeper big east team.

They just showed the highlights with Digger and he was pretty quiet. Just kind of sat there and did a half ass job with his analysis.
He he he. He is just awful.
Go Hoyas!

So much for his bracket...He had notre dame to beat G'town, Marquette, AND Uconn...good call on that one...also shut up the other dude (dont know his name) who pointed out during halftime that the hoyas weren't worthy of the #23 ranking and that it just proved the rankings were meaningless...how does he like us now?

That guy is terrible. He HATED the fact we won the game. It was almost comical his rooting interest.
Especially since he was a criminal at ND...
Eh...let's shut everyone up!
I love being the underdog.

Before this game Doug Gotlieb was on my "people I irrationally loathe" list. Now I actually have a reason to despise that whiney voice of his. He's so black and white, everything is clear cut to him. I think he honestly believes that Cincy and the Cuse have no business in the tourney. I agree on Syracuse, but Cincy has a nice body of work. And that philosophy of "head to head proves everything" is just ludicrous. If that's true then can we have Duke's 1 seed?
And another question: Does Digger Phelps have to stop at Staples before he buys his ties? I mean how can he make sure he'll be able to match his arsenal of hi-liters?

Gottlieb has no real analysis to provide, so his schtick is to just be as condescending and controversial as possible so he can keep his job. D-bag.

Gottlieb is ALWAYS wrong and he's second on my most hated list to Feinstein. He's been hating the Big East ever since he got kicked out of Notre Dame. The guy actually admitted on the radio last night to intentionally failing the 8th grade and transferring to another school district to play basketball... ESPN should NEVER let Jay Bilas or Andy Katz leave the studio...Those are the only two tolerable guys they have working... Digger is a clown and he screws up ALL the time

Digger just had some VERY nice things to say about the Hoyas and JTIII in between the Rutgers/SHU and Pitt/Louisville games.
Let's not be so reactionary. Picking ND as the sleeper was not stupid. Its certainly possible they could have knocked us off and taken down MU.

I just saw that too...but it has nothing to do with him being a clown...Matching his highlighters with his ties...That's just silly

Picking ND to beat us was not stupid.
Picking ND -- a team that could not win a single close game all year -- to be the sleeper to win the whole BET was stupid.
If you're going sleeper, which to me eliminates the top three, you really have to go with the next three (Marq, GU, Pitt).

Yeah, well, he also picked the Terps in the ACC Tourney and Minessota in the Big Ten. So at least he is consistently moronic. Wonder if he is ghost-writing for the NY Times...

Gottlieb was making cracks about the Hoyas before the game and during halftime. "If you lose 4 out of 6, how can you still be in the Top 25?"
He's the absolute worst at ESPN...can't stand him.

Gottlieb : Basketball :: Mark May : Football He is only there to annoy you. No one, with the possible exception of Okie St. fans, likes him, and he is proud of it.

Oh man, don't disparage Mark May like that - he's not half as bad as Doug Gottlieb...

Its certainly possible they knocked us off and taken down MU. I guess it was possible, but it was WAY more likely that they lose by 5 or less, as they've done all year long. And yep, they did it again.

As annoying and smirky as Gottleib is, he is right about the rankings. They are too slow to move teams in and out of the polls. Gerogetown should NOT be in the top 25 after losing to South Florida and closely following a three-game losing streak.
If we win today, I believe we stay ranked. Otherwise, Marquette, among others will pass us by.
