when i read this article, i first off thought of shawn marion- if you watch the game, he barely ever gets passed to him but he gets dirty inside and ends up getting 20 and 10 every night...

Thanks for posting!
Love this quote from the Hargrave Coach:
"I always like kids who make their own identity," Keatts said. "The one thing I will say is there is not a better rebounder in the country than Vernon Macklin. He plays with a passion for the game, and he's got a chance to be really good because he plays on both ends. That's what makes him special."

Goodness we need passion. I abhor the showboating, chest-thumping, collar-snapping epidemic sweeping college bball - but at the same time, I think that we could use some fire and intensity on this team, we seem almost clinical at times.

Ah ha! That's the perfect word to describe this team. Clinical. I've been trying to get my arms around it all year.
You take on the attitude of your coach and JTIII is very calm and reassuring. However, it seems we lack outward passion for teh game. We see some spurts of it and Roy has shown some fire, but I feel like all the guys are a little too clinical.
With PEIII and Vernon in the mix next year I think it will be great to have some guys who really show outward emotion. You don't want to go too far, but I think we miss a little bit or urgency and outward fire at times.
I'd rather being calm and collected like JTIII overall, but a little big of fire helps IMO.

I think you have that exactly right... passion is something we need more of, and those are the two guys who can provide it. I bet it will spread too... making Jeff even more effective.

I'm really starting to think that PEIII will be more valuable than I thought this year. The guys clearly like him and he's the most outward emotional guy in the program.
I don't mind if 3 or 4 of the guys on the floor are more "clinical", but you need someone out there that has that edge. Hard to explain.
It's like having that guy in the NBA that does all the little things...dives for loose balls...sets screens...plays the toughest guy on D...almost a leader by example who can get in guys faces if things seem lax.
One of my biggest problems with this team is the ability to go into LONG scoring droughts. It drives me bananas to see us going 4-5 minutes at least once a game without scoring.
All that being said Go Hoyas! I'm really excited about the postseason for THIS team and think we can do some damage in NYC and beyond.

I hope he's as good as his press clippings. the only game that I was able to see him play was in the playoffs two years ago & he was shut down by Percy Harvins(the Football player)..

I want to see the Hoya practices next year. Ewing vs. Macklin and Summers vs. Green would be some damn good battles.
