ESPN will be covering Saturday night's Duke/Carolina game on no less than THREE channels! The game will be on ESPN, something called an "Above The Rim" camera angle will be on ESPN2 and a split screen of the game and the Cameron Crazies will be on ESPNU.
I guess we have to assume there is NOTHING else worthwhile going on in the sports world on Saturday night. I'm surprised they're not showing the game on the Ocho, too.

Yeah...that kind of irks me. They're making the game out to be something more than it is. While it is a great rivalry, I can't believe people outside of the two schools' fans and alumni care about it this much.
I don't. It's a regular season game for God's sake. ESPN is going to look pretty silly if it's a blowout.

I believe that ESPN Classic is showing JJ Redick's baby videos and Coach K's Army graduaton tape - and they wonder why we all complain about their obsession with the Dukies?! They had better have a defibrillator on hand, 'cuz Dukie V will be stroking out by the opening tip!

I plan on watching two hours of Sabado Gigante in protest.
(after listening to the conclusion of the celebratory Hoya post-game on WTEM, of course)

I'm from North Carolina and can admit that the rivalry is a good one. But the coverage that they're talking about is a bit too much.
If they were ranked 1 & 2 like the women, I can see some build-up to the game because that has national implications, but certainly nothing like 3 channels of coverage.

They probably paid the ACC a lot of money for the rights to both dook-unc games (doesn't CBS usually get one of them?) and they want to make sure that nobody accidentally watches a different game on one of their networks.

This is all a marketing move. If they can leverage this "Full Circle" thing, then they will move to sell the "presenting sponsorship" for other events they use the Full Circle treatment on. SportsBusinessJournal speculated this was the purpose for the new push.

Well, if 4 whole people tune into ESPNU I think they're ratings will double. And yeah, the Ocho is already booked for Coach K's Colonoscope Cam.

This whole deal strikes me as the type of situation that Tony Kornheiser would LOVE to take a shot at.
But he probably can't afford another "vacation," particularly after getting the MNF gig.
Maybe Norman Chad will have a go at it next week.
