btw nice to see they still give bob huggins a vote. at least it gives him something to do besides drinking himself silly everyday.
MSU with a big drop. Fla drops only 5 spots after 2 losses in the week.

Looks about right to me. Florida is overrated. They are playing poorly right now.
I think NC St. is overrated too.
They have minimal good wins and losing to Seton Hall at home is terrible>>>

NC St. overrated?! How can you possibly say that when they beat the #6 team in the country by double digits?
Clearly, anyone who beats GW cannot be overrated and may actually be the best team in this or any other country.

Also at 20 in the latest AP poll. Sounds about right to me.
And NC State is all the way down to 22.
Marquette still just misses at 26.

You know what...the more I think about it the more the whole Florida thing kind of bugs me. They're 8-6 in what is considered a down year in the SEC. Plus, they have a mid-30's RPI and have three decent wins all year...at home against Syracuse, Kentucky (way down) and LSU. That's it.
They played a TON of dogs to get a great record and have stunk since then.
Florida should be a 7 or 8 seed based on how they're playing and a terrible SOS and RPI.
They don't have any really bad losses, but still...8-6 in the SEC is nothing special.
Florida, NC St. and Kansas officially bug me being anywhere ahead of us in terms of rankings or NCAA mock brackets.

20 is about as good as it would get after winning two against unranked, NCAA Tournament-bound teams.

I agree that 20 seems about right, but I just get more bugged by the "respect" that some programs get without the use of empirical data.
Oh well, the RPI will set us free!
I'm just so excited to be worrying about seeding issues. Great feeling. I can't to sit around and watch Selection Sunday...

Oh well, the RPI will set us free! Thanks to JTIII for allowing us to say that for the first time in my recollection! We were certainly not RPI fans in March 2002.

Frankly, we deserved what we got in March 2002.
JTIII has changed everything though. He "gets" it in terms of schedule and creating the right attitude.
RPI is not the end all, but just a tool...just nice to be at 22 right now...

How far does our RPI drop even with a win at South Florida? Agree, our rankings are about right for our record and recent play.

Sportswriter for the AP (John O'Donnell?) was on Kornheiser's radio show today and Korneheiser asked him who he thought was the most overrated team - he picked WVU, much to Kornheiser's surprise. WVU has been in a swoon since it won 12 in a row, and "teams have figured them out."

Sorry FLHoya...I should have known better.
Billy the Kid bugs me.
We'll drop a few spots even if we win. Our projected RPI is now 27, but that assumes no upsets. My guess is we would drop to around 24 or 25 depending on what else happens this week with our opponents from this year.
Pretty solid and we should get a bump for some really nice wins and no bad losses. The only issue is a lack of quality road wins. Plenty of wins on the road/neutral court, but nothing special.
Solid resume and it all comes down to teh respect we get for the Duke win and the strength of the Big East in the minds of the Selection Committee.
Go Hoyas!

WVU has been in a swoon since it won 12 in a row, and "teams have figured them out." It's usually Jim O'Connell ("The Ock" as TK calls him), who's based in NYC. I'll try to get a more detailed recap up when I listen to the podcast tonight.

He covered every local team except the Hoyas. talked extensively about the couch-burners not making the ncaa and how it is going to diminish GW's seeding. He was at the GW/Fordham game and stated that while they were quick, they had no inside. He went on to say that the committee takes injuries into consideration and that Pops Mensa being hurt could push GW down (6 seed maybe, i can't remember) He even talked about Mason. Andy Polley actually stated that he thought Mason could beat UMD.

I don't know about North Carolina State...
I don't think they're a team that can rattle off 6 straight wins in the NCAA's, but they're certainly capable of bringing down a top 5 ball club in a single elimination tourney.
If they're playing well, I feel for the teams in the Big 10, PAC 10, and Big 12 who don't have a team that affectively(sp) runs a derivation of the Princeton offense...
Their low-post guy is a BEAST!!! Didn't he put up like 35 against Sheldon Williams?
Definitely not a team to be taken lightly...

The ones that bother me are florida and Pitt both of whom were in (I believe it was Lunardi's) lock top 10 seeds for the tourney. I'm not sure how these two teams have earned that right (and i'm not suggesting we should be there instead) based on how they've performed. Especially Pitt. Florida i understand as they're perennial media darlings which I don't understand because they're perenially NCAA flops. Anyway, those are the 2 that bother me the most.
