I'm headed to the Phone Booth for our annual trip to DC with a few other '92 alums - what's the best pre-gaming place these days? We know about Fado and RFD (we are not RFD fans). Where does everyone go this year?

After the Duke game, we had a blast at Irish Channel, which I think got an unusual crowd because everywhere was packed. But the prices were great.

Clyde's is normally fun but expect a huge crowd Clyde's definitely gets crowded pregame for night games and was packed for a 1:30 start vs. Duke, but there was plenty of room there before the noon starts vs. Cincy and Pitt. I expect something in between. In any case, Clyde's is huge and well-apppointed and it is where the cool kids go.

Fhills---Why didn't you like RFD??? I had a good time when we were there and, outside of Brickskeller, it has the best brew selection in the city? ? WBH

While it does have an incredible beer selection, the bartending service left much to be desired, IMHO, the two times we've been there before games. Also, it's not really a bar - more of a restaurant/airport lounge vibe than a bar.

I second FHills' statement. It just takes too damn long to get a beer there.
See everyone tomorrow!

the 'cuse board indicates that their fans are heading for clydes. I don't know if they're having anything official there or not.

Tell them to go to Rhinos. Clyde's is OUR BAR.
Plus, everyone knows the Orangechildren money is no good here. Open season on flying headbutts for every S-U-C-K-S fan.

Seriously...there's no reason Clyde's shouldn't be the GU bar. Make the cuse guys go hang out at Ruby Tuesdays.
Also, I like RFD since I don't have to throw elbows to get in there before/after games, though it does seem to be where all the visiting Pitt and WVU fans went to pre-game, and was where all the Dukies went post-game...though for Duke that just added to the fun.

For me, the quality of the selections (Belgian or otherwise) is worth the wait. What we can certainly concur on is that you can't spell a certain word without SU!!!!!! WBH
