At least it's consistent. Again, this makes sense to me. Us in the Top 20 seems about right... www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/polls/apAssociated Press Top 25 No. School Record Points Prev 1 Connecticut 22-1 1795 1 2 Duke 23-1 1726 2 3 Memphis 22-2 1635 3 4 Villanova 19-2 1581 4 5 Gonzaga 20-3 1502 5 6 Texas 21-3 1457 6 7 George Washington 20-1 1289 8 8 Tennessee 18-3 1218 11 9 Pittsburgh 19-3 1177 14 10 Florida 21-3 1157 7 11 West Virginia 18-5 1103 9 12 Ohio State 18-3 953 19 13 Boston College 19-5 836 17 14 Illinois 20-4 825 10 15 UCLA 20-5 709 13 16 Michigan State 18-6 679 12 17 Georgetown 17-5 674 15 18 Iowa 19-6 596 18 19 Oklahoma 16-5 471 20 20 Washington 18-5 459 21 21 North Carolina State 19-5 435 16 22 Kansas 17-6 297 _ 23 North Carolina 15-6 291 23 24 Bucknell 20-3 133 _ 25 LSU 16-7 68 _ Others Receiving Votes: California 67, N. Nice to be ranked for publicity's sake, but these polls are meaningless.
How about Bucknell at #24 in both polls? Feinstein must be in cloud nine.

Practically they are meaningless, but it's still nice for recruits, pride and catching the attention of people within the sport and the selection committee. I just find it hard to believe that someone on the committee doesn't sneak a peak every week...
Bucknell is not one of the best 25 teams in the country IMO, but it gets to the point that someone needs to get into the Top 25. This reminds me of Utah St. making it in a couple of years ago and then not even making the dance.

I agree but let me get this straight, we beat Pitt but don't move ahead of them last and this week they beat WVU and move ahead of them? Agreed it doesn't mean anything but how about some consistency?

Agreed. These things don't make sense.
I think the argument with Pitt was they came on the road and lost by 3 with a chance to tie...not too shabby really.
No idea why WV dropped at all. they lost on the road to Pitt is a tight game and then beat us by 13. That's a pretty good week for them.

Yeah, even though Pitt beat them last week, I think West Virginia is a better team and should be ranked higher. But whatever.
After our performance yesterday, I was expecting a drop to as low as #19 or #20, so can't complain with #17.

Dropping two spots when losing to a good team is about par for the course, we don't have the Syracuse/Maryland luxury to lose one game and not slide in the polls (what did it take - 2 months for Cuse to fall out?)
I think we all agree that last night and Nova are two games that most people expect us to lose (even though we can pull them out), so losing them won't kill us. It's Marquette and Cuse that will hurt perception of us. Those teams that aren't miserable but are also clearly not very good. Those games could be killers, as both Marquette and Cuse NEED a marquis victory -- Marquette to solidify their ticket to the dance and Cuse to have a realistic shot.
Remember, we were 8-3 last year ... this Marquette game could be the biggest non-Duke game of the year.

I really like that Cal team, thought they would sneak into the polls..Hoyas need to go at least 1-1 this week or we're out of the polls next week..
