Talks all about why he left the team, why being in prep-school sucks, who is recruiting him (he throws a mini-bombshell by adding Illinois to the mix) and who is his favorite at this point. www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1190

USC has been the sleeper with almost evry high recruit anymore- they can really do some damage in a few years if they get davon type players

Does anyone not get the feeling we should steer clear of this situation?

I'm right there with you on that...the kid, while it sounds like he can play, has a lot of off court issues...lets let Jeff, Roy, PE Jr, Dajuan, and Vernon take care of the front court duties for now...theres always going to be another great forward and certainly ones without all the bagage

Damnit people, NEVER FORGET OCTAVIUS!!!
I plan on having my own Octavius Spann Fan Club section at the WVU game. I was probably the only person in the arena last night screaming loudly when Doc Oct had the ball... it was my favorite part of the night!

is it just me or does this clown sound like a prima donna?
He's complaining about the bologna sandwiches and the team bus? what does he think this is, club med? You've got to be kidding me...
It sounds very much to me like this guy is a) ALL about himself and, b) already in the NBA (in his head)

Man, if Doc Oct's cross-court pass to Egerson had about 3-feet less height on it, it would have been gorgeous!

Totally agree, Ed. Froms the sounds of this report, if he comes to GU and gets 20 minutes a game or his stats aren't to his liking, he'd abandon ship badmouth the program in the process. We don't need anyone killing the Hoyas' buzz. Let Tim Floyd have him for his one year of college unless this article completely misrepresents Jefferson's priorities and attitude. I'm sure Coach and staff are more than able to discern the truth about things. For all we know, the staff has no serious intention of offering him a scholarship and, along the lines of what others have said in different threads, is just enjoying having GU listed in the mix for another top recruit. That would help sustain the buzz about the program.

Hope we stay a mile away from Davon. Totally agree. True, he's probably the highest rated recruit yet to commit, but the signs are there. The positives are outweighed by the negatives. Why take him on when we're going to be stacked in the front court? Assuming Roy and The Predator stay, we got 2 All-Americans coming in, in addition to PE2. Also, his personality doesn't click with what we got going on. Over the past year and a half, have we heard anything about individuals (outside of The Predator winning BEROY)? We play team basketball. It's a team effort. Clearly he's a prima donna and I'm willing to bet he could be a negative influence. Finally, do we really need to show that we're back in the recruiting scene by taking this guy? Don't we have 2 aforementioned All-Americans coming in that we plucked from some big time programs? Whether's going on, I'm sure JT3 knows what he's doing. At least we know we got SPANN!

First of all, Jefferson's article and comments are all bull. I played at a prep school and the van rides COME WITH THE TERRITORY!. Secondly, the sandwiches are probably on the road. There isn't a boarding school in this world that doesn't have a cafeteria with a buffet of choices. So, he's basically saying that the red carpet isn't laid out for him, he has to live by the rules that everyone else on the team has to live by and he's not above the program. STAY AWAY! STAY VERY AWAY! Can you imagine this kids reaction the first time JTIII pulls him from a game? Or maybe the match-ups aren't going his way, so he'll gripe. USC is the leader for one reason. He'll go there, he'll get to take every shot and he'll be able to get special treatment because Tim Floyd is an abomination as a coach and an enforcer of team rules. Let someone else have Davon Jefferson the headache! We have enough talent than to have some jerk come in and upset team balance.

This kid is starting to sound like he has a tad of the Harvey Thomas Syndrome with a bit of an enlarged ego to boot. As much as I liked Harvey and hope he can put the past behind him, he was not a good fit for our team and hurt our chemistry as much as helped it. I love the TEAM we have right now and I think our current freshmen have bought into the concept. We don't need primadonas spoiling it. Give me a five of Jon, Sapp, Vernon/Dajuan, Jeff and Roy next year and I'll be more than content.
