Couple of points:
1. First and foremost, is it possible to look at a picture of Doug Gottlieb and not want to punch him in the face? Just asking.
2. Could someone explain to Jay Bilas that arguing that Duke "gets the calls" is not the same as arguing some massive conspiracy to keep Duke on top of college basketball? I'm sure there are some proponents of the latter, but you can have one without the other. I don't think there exists any directive to officials obviously, but I do think they, consciously or subconsciously, give Duke more of a benefit of the doubt on close calls than they do other teams. Nor do I think its "insulting to fair-minded people" to make that case. Take a cue from all the political talking heads on the left and the right, Jay. Using the term "fair-minded people" is usually a clue that you yourself are not one of them.

Feel free to email the ESPN ombudsman at this link and complain about former Duke player and Coach Jay Bilas' biased coverage of Duke, especially considering the ACC just suspended the officials from the Duke / Florida St. game because of blown calls. sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?id=2097428

One. Also, to Boz's point, how many emails do you think Bilas, Solomon, Vitale, etc. get that are illogical, full of curse words, accusatory, etc. Of course Bilas is going to react like people who say Duke gets the calls are nuts, because the people that write Bilas 95% of the time are nuts. I bet this is Bilas' average email re: Duke: Dear Jay Bias, You [editied]. Why do you always stick up for Dook? Oh, yeah, you're dum azz went their. Dook sux, but the officials and ESPN just bail them out and hype them up. Why don't you stop [performing a sexual act on Coach K]!!!! No wonder he responds the way he does. I agree he is wrong to do so, but most sports fans are unbalanced.

Pretty funny stuff, SF. And point taken.
Say, that reminds me. Time for me to e-mail Doug Gottlieb. What's a good word for "smarmy, annoying, putrid dweeb"?
I don't, however, think it is only crazy e-mailers who are making the case - or at least raising the issue - at this point in the season. Not after these past two games.
Personally, I could care less. The fewer games Duke loses, the better our win is. But I don't think talking about it is "insulting," no matter how many times Bilas may get personally insulted in his In box.
