Does anyone have a firm grasp on the ever-changing seeding rules? Can G'Town be placed in the Washington bracket? Are they excluded 'cause they are the host team? Or does that only apply to the first couple rounds?

Yeah, I was about to ask the same thing.
I thought you couldn't be put in a sub-regional that fed to a regional on your home floor either.
Who knows with the way they're co-locating sub-regionals now.

Or does that only apply to the first couple rounds? Georgetown is the host school for the Washington, DC (formerly known as the "East") regional, and can not be placed in that bracket, no matter what. We can, however, be placed in a "pod" close to home for rounds 1 and 2 if we're a high enough seed. So, we could be in a Philadelphia pod, for example, even if we were in the West or Midwest region.

Not sure how he has WVU ranked 1 slot ahead of us yet seeded as a 4?!?!

I agree that WVU should have a better seed that Gtown. Interesting enough Gtown as of today as a RPI of 21 while WVU has a RPI of 29. That loss against Marshal (RPI in the 200s) must have really hurt.

Weiss' seeds/brackets are riddled with errors. First of all, we can't play in the Washington region, where he has us as the 2 seed. Secondly, he has Maryland and Syracuse as 9 seeds, when we all know that teams that s-u-c-k that much aren't allowed in the tournament.

Whether we deserve it or not, whether we can play where he has us playing or not, I for one am not complaining that this team is earning major league respect from anyone whose last name isn't "Gottlieb."
(He had nothing to say about Georgetown on Gamenight last night, choosing instead to spend his air time talking about how, even though they didn't make the shot, Pitt executed their end-game play very well. I agree, Doug, they did execute that play well. If they had executed for the previous 19 minutes just as well, they might even have won; perhaps the other team on the court had something to do with that).
Anyway, Weiss is projecting us as a 2 seed. If the tournament started today, that's too high, no question. But I'm beginning to think Georgetown might just be able play themselves into such a position.
But, yeah, his Syracuse and Maryland projections are WAY off! This guy's an idiot. ;D

That loss against Marshal (RPI in the 200s) must have really hurt. I'm just not sure I understand how any of these RPI systems work. Right now, on realtimerpi.com, we're 20th and WVU is 37th. Both teams are 16-4, and WVU's schedule is 120th, while ours is 130th. So, you've got two teams with identical records, and the one with the (slightly) better schedule is ranked 17 places behind the other? Not saying that WV should be way ahead of us or anything, but they certainly shouldn't be way behind us, should they?

Two things work against the Hoyas playing in Washington - how many games are played at the arena in question and whether you host. Three or fewer and you're fine - more than three, and you have to go somewhere else. See www.ncaasports.com/basketball/mens/story/9183455 , Section III, point 8 and 9.

Rule 8 in "Placing Teams in the Championship Bracket" A team will not be permitted to play in any arena in which it has played more than three regular-season games, not including conference post-season tournaments. www.ncaasports.com/basketball/mens/story/9183455I'm assuming this applies all the way through. I'm told this is why Villanova only scheduled three games at Wachovia in Philly this year; Wachovia is hosting 1st/2nd round games and Nova wants to play there.
