is headed for cincy. i guess the lure of not attending class and having a 0.02 gpa was too much to pass up.

We didn't recruit Mr. Hererra. He wanted us to, but we passed. He sounds like a big, somewhat plodding center in the Roy Hibbert mold. They can battle in the post over the next few years.

Losing D'Andre Bell to Tech is a much bigger deal.

I hear you SF, losing Bell stings a bit but when hearing what he said about "worrying over playing time" and the fact GU got Spann to commit and they visited on the same weekend, tells me that maybe they were both being targeted for the same spot.
A lot of times programs will bring in 2 kids who they like and happen to be targeting for the same position. They'll have them both play pick up with the team and see who does best and get reports back from the team. By all accounts Spann showed to perform better. Also Spann has been a believer in Hoya staff and WANTED to be a part of re-building GU.
Whenever you have guys "worried" about minutes before they get on campus, it's best they head elsewhere no matter how talented the player. I'd also like to add that GU does lead for Jessie Sapp who is a very highly regarded Combo Guard and would fit in well with Josh Thornton because Sapp's game is taking the ball to the rack/mid-range and his penetration could set up Thornton's shooting.
Goodridge remains the key to this year's class though. If Hoyas get him, they can round out a solid class with a good perimeter player. If not, we'll likely see Aboya, so it's not going to be a bad class either way, just have high hopes we can land Vernon to get things back on the positive side in terms of recruiting battles.

You're right -- we're going to have a very good class regardless. For a minute there, the expectations got so high; I just have to remember my expectations before the last month or so.

i agree vernon is the key recruit, but we need a 2 badly. someone to knock down the 3 is a must. i was hoping for bell, but spann seems like a good fit for the program.

Isn't Thornton that kind of "loooooooong-range" 3 threat you're talking about?

Let me get this straight. A kid who is worried about his playing time chose Georgia Tech, a team that played for the national championship last year, over Georgetown, a team that beat no one of any consequence? Now I know a team's composition can change radically over two years, but I have to think that Ga. Tech will still have some talent on the wings come 2005-06. So this can only mean one of two things: Either we have entered a parallel universe where down is up and up is down, or III is making strides beyond our wildest dreams.
