This could be fun.
What was the last Hoya win that was this satisfying?
The last win I was this satisfied with was beating UNC on December 6, 1990. I believe it was a first meeting since the tragedy in the 1982 Final. It was the year of the Twin Towers with Alonzo and Dikembe.
The only bad part about that game was that Alonzo injured his heal in the final minutes. He ended up being out for several game and the team lost the momentum it built and never fulfilled its potential.
So what is yours?

Err, wasn't that Duke? I thought Zo was injuered on a block of Laettner to preserve the win.

Could be....maybe we played UNC in 1989. Anyway, back in the summer of '33...
It is sad when senior moments occur in the mid-30s.
Let this be a lesson to the younger posters.....stay away from Georgetown drinking establishments.

Received my acceptance letter from GU the night we beat Duke in 90. (Was at the game at Meadowlands in Easter 1989 when we lost).
Best win since we beat Weber State in 1995. AI's freshman year.

Arkansas in the tourney.
Before that, the pasting of Nova at the Cap Center in 96.

I believe the pasting of UCONN at the Cap Center was even better That was good, too, but the Nova game ended on such a Huuuuge margin. Plus I think it was the phone card game, which was fun taunt the bench. The next year the Nova game was great as well. Sometime before the game Tim Thomas had made comments about leaving college after his freshman year (which he did). He had an awful first half, Georgetown led pretty substantially at the break if I remember (they were ranked #14), and we rode Thomas pretty bad (mostly commenting on his unreadiness to play NBA ball). I swear he was crying as he went into the locker room at halftime. To this day, Tim Thomas is still unready to play in the NBA.

I think this is the most important regular-season win ever. It's one of those rare non-conference games that people--especially those who were there--will still talk about in 20 years. I still hear '80s grads talk about the Missouri game at McDonough. I think the current students, and especially seniors, will remember this game for the rest of their Hoya fandom.
I was at the Nova and UConn games in '96 (it's scary that it's starting to sound so long ago) at USAir and they were awesome, definitely among the top 10-15 games I've attended live. But Saturday was another level entirely. It was truly extraordinary, one of the best games I've ever been to. Let me put it this way: it got really dusty inside the arena when the buzzer finally sounded. I'm hanging on to my ticket stub and copy of Sunday's Post.
This might be wishful thinking, but I could also see this game kicking off a long rivalry. If both schools are smart, they'd extend the home-and-home beyond next season. It's such a natural non-conference rivalry. If Duke comes to town every other year, who needs Maryland?

I was informally asking anybody who would listen on Saturday (most of whom were post-Iverson Hoyas fans) whether the Duke win was more significant than the tourney wins (Arkansas, Hampton) from 2001. Just about everybody I talked to said yes.
In fact, one might make the case that this was the biggest win for the Hoyas since Hampton's victory over Iowa State--not anything we've done ourselves ;D

I came to Georgetown in 2001 and graduated in 2004. I'm not even joking when I say that the most satisfying moment in my tenure was the firing of Craig Esherick. And I went to just about every home game during that time. How sad is that? Paid off in spades this weekend though.
As for games, I guess I'll go with Tony Bethel hitting the winning three against West Virginia in 2002. That was nice, I guess.

I was there in NO in 1982 Lic, but that was a loss. I remember the Missouri game at McDonough in 1982 with Al McGuire calling the game. Missouri was ranked 4th, I believe. The game was such a statement. Patrick ate Stipanovich alive and we trounced a veteran Mizzou team. Also, at the Big East Tournament in 1987 when Reggie stuck a dagger in Syracuse's heart with his gang of Miracles. Who can forget his 30 foot bomb ending the lst half and, of course, as we always did in those days, we won the game and the championship. Perry shutting down Seikaly. awesome.
