A great accomplishment for the team, but hopefully just one of many this season. Congrats to JT3 and the team - now don't let your guards down against the Irish and Bearcats this week!

Standing ovation from the Hilltop. I see blood in the water, and it is time to kill ND's season.

Now that is more like it...stupid coaches.
It really doesn't matter at the end of the day, but it's nice to get some recognition.
Plus, we can see our scores more often when they scroll down...

The other issue is that WV is #9 in the AP and still only #13 in the Coaches poll. That team is the definition of a top 10 team, but the coaches don't pay any attention.
I really feel like the AP poll got it right...

This is great. Helps confidence, pride, recruiting, TV schedules, media attention, etc.
However, I will agree with those that say these rankings don't help get into the tourney. The committee is not so easily swayed. Keep winning and we'll be talking about seedings and not whether we are in or not!

Question: When were we last ranked?

The stupid thing is the coaches poll is sponsored by ESPN, so when we play ND on Tuesday, we won't be ranked (according to them) because they only acknowledge their own rankings...same goes for the ESPN scroll I believe...

I think it should be like the old WWF Hardcore title.
You have to defend your position in the rankings 24/7 and whoever beats you gets to take your spot.
Teams have to accept two official challenges per week from a lower-ranked team, and can challenge one higher ranked team per week. But if two teams happen to run into each other in a parking lot, for instance, an immediate game can be scheduled on the spot.
Whatever the final top 64 rankings are at the end of the season, they get into the NCAA tournament.
All that, and I think folding chairs and voodoo powder should be allowed on the court. (I would say refs get to turn a blind eye from time to time, but that happens already anyway.)

Boz, I am now waiting for a comparison between Randy/Cowboy Bob Orton and the Thompsons. Our Hoyas were legend killers on Saturday.

We were last ranked in 2001, after beating Seton Hall twice (which was at the time a Top twenty team). We then fell out of the rankings and I don't believe ever got back, despite going to the Sweet Sixteen (through, admittedly, a pretty large back door).

Yeah, definitely surprised to get so much support so quick...
Also curious on the coaches is that UConn barely grabbed the top spot over Duke.. interesting. Can't beleive the coaches still have LVille & Cuse so high, but good to see the AP dropped...
Better news for us is being top 30 in Sagarin (28) and Pomeroy (24) and moving up in RPI (36), too... Let's keep it rollin this week!!!

We're we even the "last team in" as determined by highest at large seed? BTW, who would've thought that right now Vandy would be a bubble team (losses @arkansas and home to S. Car.) with as as their highest quality win to date?!

If my memory serves me correctly, we stayed in the top 25 the entire season we went to the sweet 16. I believe we entered after the first win over Seton Hall, peaked at 9, but never fell out. We started the following year (2001-2002) ranked but dropped out in late November or early December and haven't returned until today.

I'd also point out that out SJU win is looking better and better with each passing day.

I think our OOC record dropped us out very early the year after the Sweet 16.
