The students were huge, an enormous factor. Just a packed house and they never shut up. Major props to the crowd in general, but particularly to the students. Awesome awesome awesome. now don't drop off the face of the earth!

STANDING OVATION for the students and especially the kids who have been devoted in their efforts/support for the team. I really think they've helped a lot and with today and last year's McDonough NIT game being the loudest I've heard a crowd at Hoya games. I realize we still need more support but you have all done your part and more--from T-Shirts which was AWESOME SIGHT today, to the planned trips following team, to making signs for the recruits, it's a great job and really appreciate it and proud you all got to witness this moment during your time on Hilltop.

This was what MCI could be, why some of us were frustrated. The alums were good, the students were GREAT!!!! You all have my total admiration for the atmosphere you created. An hour beforehand- I thought I'd be the only one there- every student seat was full. And loud. And cheering.
Wow.

some recap said that the upper deck was 75% duke and the lower tier was at least 50% duke. all i can say is that it didnt sound like that at all. seemed like crowd was 100% georgetown. completely quiet on our free throws, and yelling like all hell on theirs.

As I told Kurt tonight, big ups to all the leadership of Hoya Blue. Today was one of your crowning achievements. Well done to all. I don't have a voice, but it was so sweet. I hear Bowman was holding court on N St tonight in the courtyard. I didn't go, but some people I know when to wish him well. Any other encounters tonight students??

I'll throw in another big "Congrats" to the students for this game......we need this response for every home game. The team clearly fed off of it and it was really great to see that "sea of gray" on TV. All of that just adds to the image we want prospective recruits to see as being a part of playing at GU.

Student did a great job! We alumni screamed our asses off too! I can barely speak this morning. Us out of towners cannot always make the trip, please students keep up the great job. I read that BS about the Duke upper-deck too. All I know is that place was at least 65-35 GT to Duke fans and only once in the game did they chant anything I heard.

My throat is killing me for only the second time in my life, the first being after the Yanks won the Series in 2000 and I was at Shea for the finale. Just this delightful joy hangover, I can't get the smile on my face. What a crowd what a team what a day.

People will be quick to point to the Duke game in terms of student turnout. Although the atmosphere was terrible for the SF game, I believe the student turnout, at the time, was a record for GU in the MCI Center. It clearly outpaced the SHU game from last year, when there was a promo and discounted tix for seniors.
From a numbers point of view, having both ends of the gym at 75% capacity probably means a greater student turnout than GU has ever had in the MCI. The move to two separate sections was somewhat vindicated yesterday, when I definitely had doubts at the beginning of the season.

Not only were the students and the non student fans great at the game, but it didn't end there. Forcing streets to be closed after the game then the bus ride hoem screaming at everyone we passed that gtown beat duke. Then through out the campus all of yesterday constant cheers. Partying all over the place. There were tons of players at a party that was just in one of the Henle Courtyards. all rules and laws were suspended after a win like that. I saw roy, jeff, wallace, sead there. I'm sure more of them were there but there were so many people there it was hard to find all of them.

Perhaps the greatest thing about the student turnout was that I knew a ton of students that couldn't get tickets cuz it was sold out. Based on interest alone, I think we could have gotten another thousand students there, maybe more. The interest is growing, the buzz is there, it's great to see. People are learning how much fun it can be to be a fan again.
Now let's just make sure the energy and enthusiasm carries over to the Cincy game next week and all future games to come. GO HOYAS.

Student section was the most ridiculous thing I ever seen at a Georgetown game. It was almost filled up over an hour before tip-off. I felt lucky just to even make the 7th row of the SS...
And I've probably been one of the biggest critics about the cheering from the general sections and alums. You guys showed up yesterday and really gave this team a lift (along with, of course, the students). If yesterday wasn't proof that the crowd impacts a game heavily, I'm not sure what is. Again, thanks to everyone who came out yesterday and made a difference.

And I'll tell you what, the girls sitting behind me yelled one of those things at Paulus EVERY SINGLE TIME he touched the ball. In fact, they did pretty much every single cheer on the cheer sheet at some point. Amazing. Too bad it didn't work at all, and Paulus didn't do anything bad like have a bunch of freshman mistakes down the stretch, or choke away the final possession of the game by getting stripped and not finding his team's only legit scoring option on the day.

The YA section was a great help as well for getting the section 100 folks to realize that standing up is okay. Y'all were the best.

This is the point where I'm supposed to show mock indignation that the contents of the Georgetown cheer sheet was made public (or that the Duke AD got his grubby hands on it), right? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
