Over the weekend, I as well as many other members of Hoya Blue had the privilege of meeting the esteemed Nodak89 and his lovely family. He attended our Stag BBQ. (FL: I actually liked the venison burgers. Did not taste like ass. More like beef jerky.) I brought my guitar out in the cold weather to see if he could treat us to a live performance, but unfortunately, time did not permit. However, we did hear the exclusive new single off the hot-selling follow-up album, What Rocks! I don't want to divulge too much information before the man, the myth, the legend posts the new track (possibly in this thread...?), but let's just say it stays true to the album's name. And I do not exaggerate the least bit when I say that the new track will knock you off your seat and blow you away. But, in light of finals week procrastination (I started a thread with that title last year, it eventually grew to 8 pages) and some time between yesterday's game and our eagerly anticipated matchup against mighty Stetson at McDonough, I'll post some pictures from the weekend. Nodak with the Hoya Blue (and HoyaTalk) crew in McShain Lounge near Leo's: pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkam25/detail?.dir=da5e&.dnm=538a.jpg&.src=ph(Nodak is on the right, and the first person to correctly match each person in the picture with their Talkboard name gets a gold star) Also had the privilege to bump into Jahidi (the other man, myth, and legend) and meet Mrs. Jahidi before the game at MCI Center on Sunday: pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkam25/detail?.dir=da5e&.dnm=28d9.jpg&.src=phA picture of what a 6,500 crowd looks like at the MCI Center at halftime, as well as the split student sections (I can send you a higher resolution pic of this if you send me a PM): pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkam25/detail?.dir=da5e&.dnm=b86b.jpg&.src=phAnd what the hell, a picture of me running with the flag from the Vanderbilt game two weeks ago: pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkam25/detail?.dir=da5e&.dnm=61e7scd.jpg&.src=phAll the pics are in the Hoya Blue album on my Yahoo picture page, so feel free to browse all of them to check out all the cool stuff we have done this semester. Hell, take a look at all of my albums, I don't care, there's nothing TOO scandalous there. Hoya Saxa, eagerly awaiting Nodak89 posting the new song, and for all those students, good luck on finals, we're almost there. ;D P.S. There is also a link to my picture album on the Hoya Blue webpage: hoyablue.tripod.com. Seeing how I have just been promoted to Hoya Blue Communications Officer (I think that is the title) in charge of the website and sending out e-mails, hopefully we'll be getting the new and improved website up in the coming month, with a more complete photo album (not just a link), and other engaging features... stay tuned. ;D

Let me echo the sentiments that CA and RB have already shared. Nodak has a very lovely family and it was very nice to meet them all (not to in anyway deminish Jahidi's cameo appearance at the BBQ). Also as far as music goes (I don't know that much) but I would put it this way:
Best songs of all-time:
1. Stairway 2. New Nodak song 3. Freebird

I'd like to make some slight alterations: Best Songs Ever: 1. Heart of a Hoya (remastered) 2. New Nodak 3. All other Nodak songs 4. Rosa Parks - Outkast for the line "A-T-L, Georgia, what we do for ya Bull doggin hoes like them Georgetown Hoyas" 5. Now Ride- Fabolous for the line "Keep yay wit the oyers, two kids on the block Like when Mourning and Mutumbo, used to play wit the Hoyas" 6. (title currently unknown) some song by Notorious BIG for the line"They heard about the Rolexes and the Lexus Wit' the Texas license plates outta state They heard about the pounds you got down in Georgetown Now they heard you got half of Virginia locked down." and a distant seventh: the rest of the "music" that's been produced.
Thanks rockaway if you know the title of the song i can clean up my post. Also if anyone else knows any songs mentioning georgtown post them.

Kind of hard identifying the members in the picture, when no body is wearing a blue wig (nor aviator glasses). ;D

Thanks for posting the picture of Mrs. Jahidi and I! I am glad you took that picture before the game and not when the night was ending at The Tombs... these 1:00pm games can be a killer.

What a great trip! Just got back to the northern Hinterlands earlier this evening. Nothing like a loss to explode the board. Man. It took me about 2 hours straight to skim through the 4+ pages I missed in the last 4 days. First off (second off?), thanks and congrats to Hoya Blue for the warm welcome and the Bambi Burgers! It was well worth waiting 1 hour for the stinking G2 bus at Dupont Circle to take my wife and kids to the old stomping grounds. As we were walking down the hill to Leo's (actually I had to ask for directions from the info guy at Leavey--"now where is this relative to a building I might know from 16 years ago?") we heard that Bose ablaring. My son says, "Hey, Dad! That's you!" as he heard the subtle dulcet strains of 'Jeff Green's Mom'. I think I blushed. Just a little. In a MANLY way. Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet everyone. It was relatively easy to pick out the less camera-shy HB'ers. You know what? Real Ray looks exactly like Picture Ray. Fun game. I was in section 112 (?) on the band side. Did you see that Kurt-shirted doofus standing and shouting like, well, a doofus? I can hardly believe that "it's been so long since last we met" with my last live Hoya game being that damn Elite Eight loss at the Meadowlands in 1989 to They Who Must Not Be Named lest I spark another banner ad/Cameron Envy debate. I already sort of let it slip, "well, next year we'll have more time to wander through the National Archives." "Next year? This is going to be a yearly thing?""Ummm. Yeah."About the new track. Credit is due to my brother, Jeff, and his aforementioned professional recording studio and talent. Check him out at www.thunkonline.comSince I'm rambling on.....major thanks to TBird for his surrogate-dom. I saw you running all over and firing up the troops! (I did miss the slipping on the poops.) Kurt's hair wasn't that David Cassidy. And I got to meet the legend known as FLHoya! ;D As CA's esteemed Governator said, "I'll be back!"

I would consider playing this as our intro at games played at MCI. This would kick some serious ass if all the students could learn at least the chorus and sing to it.
Great job, Nodak!

David Hasselhoff's version of "Hooked on a Feeling" (Honorable Mention: Sir Mix-a-Lot's career post "Baby Got Back," that Danish group that covered "Apache" by the Sugarhill Gang, the Zombie Nation song, the theme to "Saved By the Bell", "One Shining Moment," the 59,670th playing of Mariah Carey's version of "All I Want for Christmas is You" on the musak in the bookstore right now, "When I Get You Alone" by RDF's favorite artist Thicke, "Wanna Love U Girl" by RDF's new favorite Robin Thicke, "The Bad Touch" by Bloodhound Gang, "Mmmbop" by StPete's former near-neighbors Hanson, the GW Fight Song that plays on that stupid clock when I leave work on Fridays, the entire discography of Donnie Osmond and Brian Austin Green, "Wonderful Christmas Time", the album "Hung for the Holidays", "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew who I'm proud are from my home state, the artist I'm most embarrassed originated in my home state: O-Town, "I Adore Mi Amore" by Color Me Badd--a VH1 "Awsomely Bad" countdown staple, what RBHoya would sound like if his family formed a variety show act, MC Skat Cat's lines in "Opposites Attract," every Spice Girl's solo career, the "Canyonero" theme song, the song I wrote about Wesley Wilson freshman year to the tune of the "Canyonero" song, "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, the song I hope nodak89 is gonna write about 007's no-shirtsleeves look to the tune of "I'm Too Sexy," "The Stroke," "The Streak," "The Final Countdown," "Splash Waterfalls," the themes to the A-Team, MacGyver, Sandford and Son, Dallas, the Greatest American Hero, Miami Vice...and SoCalHoya85 singing in the shower) What we really need on this board is a "I'm Trying to Run Out the Clock at My Job and [time I get off work] Won't Come Soon Enough" thread.
