My man SoCal with 25 pts., 18 in the first that really helped settle us down and allowed us to take control.

Quick thoughts...
If I do say so myself, great teamwork in the Chat Room today between myself and 'Bridge doing the play-by-play.
Cook was dynamite today. Finally stepped up.
Green and Bowman were invisible for the most part. All of BB's points seemed to come in garbage time.
Roy looked great on D and on O for the most part, but much of the time (especially early) when he was trying to establish position he was getting out-muscled again. Guy's gotta hit the leg press machine.
Instant energy from Egerson and Sapp was nice. Sapp may have to guard Dee Brown when they play Illinois.
Where was Crawford? Egerson in the second half?

roy played well, i just wish he would stick with the post game and not shoot 15 footers. his foul shooting has really improved which is great and something to be really excited about. not really a liability anymore, and late in teh game that is critical.
without Ashanti's key treys in the first, we dont get the lead at half. green needs to be more active. i thought that roys production would have helped his but it has not started to do so at this point. later on in the season when this teams gells more i am sure he will come around.
its great to see that we have so many legitamate scorers. someone can have a bad game and we can still get someone else to step up and lead us to victory.
very pleased with todays performance and it is great leading into the illinois contest.

Guys, Hibbert 5-6 (he's over 70% for the year) and 6-6 from the line. He doesn't need to change a thing. He took one shot from the foul line because they were leaving him wide open. How about that play where Johnson overplayed him and he took it to the hole and had the layup but got fouled instead. He did not have that quickness last year. He even looked to have his handle in control. He's the MVP of the team thus far.
Ashanti was spectacular. His best game as a Hoya.

If anyone frequented the boxscore on ESPN.com, you could see that Cook didn't actually score all those points, it was Ewing Jr. in disguise

Most impressed with our defense today. Cook couldn't miss. And Roy is now almost automatic on free throws.
ESPN web site has PE Jr. scoring 25 points. Cook must be pleased to hear this.

He took one shot from the foul line because they were leaving him wide open. When he starts making that 15-17 footer from the foul line - elbow, things will really start to open up for the cutters.

Ashanti is the most important player on the team. When he gives us a legitimate elite guard, we are a different team.

Just got back from the game. Ashanti was really on fire. We really shut them down on defense. Though I haven't seen a whole lot of people talk about this yet, we shut them down defensively. Roy alters A LOT of shots. Wow. And JW does a great job dictating tempo. I thought the game would be much closer. With 7 minutes left in the game I started feeling more confident. Our cheers started getting louder and the Ducks' fans started to leave.

First game of the year I got to watch on TV! Great showing all around - very imprssed with the D, though concerned over the short bench...
Loving Hibbert's emergence - what a force early - really seemed to open up the outside shooting...
Don't like watching the game with Green without the hair, though! Grow that back!
Seems like this team is really embracing the slowed down Princeton type offense. I think this will serve us well against ILL and in conference. I have a feeling though that we're (fans) going to be very frustrated if we fall behind to a Duke or UConn and keep playing that slow style. Touh to watch when you're down 12-4 and it seems like we're not making a quick effort to cathc up, but low and behold, it settles the offense and allows comebacks! Should be a VERY interesting year. I think I'm less sure about how things will do now than before, but it good be a really good season!

As long as we can play defense like we did...I don't care how slowly our O can put points on the board. That was just stiffling at times. Awesome.

Its been said elsewhere but I REALLY like the idea of going to that zone ocassionally - we've shown a lot of defensive looks (1-2-2 full court press, 1/2 court trap, man to man, man to man zone, etc ...) but I thought that the 2-3 zone today worked really well.

I agree completely, that zone seemed to completely shut them down yesterday. Having Roy and Jeff down low is plenty and when we have guys like Bowman and Owens on the wings with their long wingspans it makes it very difficult for the other team to get good looks.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the win and was impressed that we kept the stadium quiet most of the game. However I was disappointed that not many guys made confident / authoritative cuts and passes on offense. To me, it looked like we were still a little scared/unsure on O which led to too much Brandon dribbling/TO's.
Never the less, great road win early in the season. We will only improve!
Oh yeah, and Sapp is gonna be VERY good in the next couple years.

I was more of the Remdawg to your Orsillo. I provided color commentary. You can give out "Tommy Points" next game we do. Maybe we should forget these stupid, useless, worthless law degrees we're pursuing and take over for Rich when he hangs 'em up a few years in the future? I can see it now... "You're listening to seven-time defending NCAA champion Georgetown Hoya basketball on SportsTalk 980, I'm your host Buffalo, and with me as always The 'Bridge..."
