I felt when the rankings came out that Syracuse, along with Kentucky, MD and WVU were ranked too high. I actually think Vandy may be better than two of those teams. Big game saturday.

Hmm, first Vermont, then Bucknell?
All those who would support sending the Orange to the Patriot League or whatever league Vermont is in, raise your hands! ;D

And they say Iverson takes bad shots. GMac puts up too many three point attempts and does not come close to making enough of them.

McNamara and DevenDORK need to take their butt back to the "8 Mile" where they belong--heck DevenDORK even resembles Cheddar Bob a little bit--not really but he could be an inbred cousin of his. When they come to the MCI later this year a possible 8 Mile Chant when these goons are playing? Trust me, DevenDORK will be even more hated than McNamara and yes I did say this so anyone who is from Scranton, what are you going to do about it? ;D

Classic headline. www.nypost.com/sports/31763.htmWhen the Orange ain't safe even inside their cozy little sanctuary of the Carrier Dome, it's a wonderful thing. That team just doesn't have sound fundamentals. I was up at 'cuse last year to watch my nephew play against them and, let me tell you, the disciplined play of the cerebral players on an Ivy team (Cornell's) was more than the Syracuse players could handle (or figure out) during the entire first half. A half where Cornell held the lead, and patiently worked the clock on every possession. The second half brought some amazingly homeristic calls (or lack of calls, one might say, considering some of the egregious fouls being committed) and the Orange pulled out their win. Anyway, if they can't handle a game on their home court in an "easy ooc" schedule, what does that say about their level of preparation for the conference, much less March? (B/t/w ... Bucknell was probably under-rated coming into this game. They returned 5 players from last year who did, after all, knock off Kansas in the NCAAs. )

From the Syracuse Post-Standard:
"Defensively,Syracuse allowed Bucknell to go 14-for-17 (82.4 percent) from the field in the second half, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. The Bison also made 16 out of 19 foul shots in the second half."
Tough to win games when you don't play defense!

As much as I love to see the Orange embarassed like this, it does nothing to help the Big East's or our RPI.

Well, I’m sure that if Boeheim didn’t have his team’s undivided attention before this game, he’s got it now!
It’s always seemed to me the pre-conference schedule is when you try to take advantage of the opportunity to experiment, ease newcomers into the team, find out who can make a contribution, and prepare for conference play. A stumble or two may happen. But it isn’t necessarily the end of the world. Here’s hoping we manage to stay healthy and get to January relatively unscathed. But please, friends, don’t go off the deep end if we, too, suffer an upset loss. Or lose to a more highly thought of opponent. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize: the Big East tournament title and the NCAAs.
Case in point: Ewing's freshmen year when we lost to UNC on Jordan's jumper in the last minute, we started the season 1-2, losing to SW Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette) and Ohio State. On top of that we had a three game losing streak in late January during conference play. But we pulled it all together down the stretch and Hoya Paranoia was born. May it live again!

I always find it hard to root for BE teams when they are playing out of conference. I know logicaly I am supposed to root for WV or Villanova against other non BE teams for RPI and such but its way to difficult to root for Cuse. What I have compromised with myself is to root for BE teams out of comference except for YouCon and Cuse. They smell and I dont like em.
