The first big conference matchup of the year - and more importantly the first ACC-Big East showdown...unfortunately it is their best team against one of our bottom-dwellers...that said, any predictions for how this game will unfold?
77-51 Duke.

i was at the SHU Manhattan game on Monday and let's just say I've seen prettier high school games. Seton Hall's offense is weak and Louis Orr is THE WORST COACH IN THE BIG EAST!!! There big men are slow and Sheldan Williams will dominate them like none other.
Williams and Reddick combine for 55 as Duke beats "The Hall" 88-69

Duke plays freshman only for the final 30 minutes and squeeks out a 77-52 win.

My prediction for this game can be summed up in the following give-and-take from the greatest film villan (sorry, Darth Vader) of all time:
"What's your prediction for the fight?
"My prediction?"
"Yes, your prediction."
"...PAIN!..."

Bill Swerski: Okay, gentlemen, another scenario: Da Bears, they don't make it, the plane is delayed.. and the only one who shows up is Ditka. Ditka vs. Da Giants. Okay, score, gentlemen. Pat Arnold: Alright, after da heart attack, I gotta say Ditka 17, Giants 14. He just barely gets by.

i am already tired of the K-worship going on at ESPN. THey are a good team no doubt, but please - can they stop EDITED Coach K? Also, Why the HELL is REdick and Shelden "Buttface" Williams still in the game at the 7 minute mark - does Coach K have ANY class?!?!??! This is an absolute outrage - still gunning 3s...ridiculous
God, I feel hatred for Duke - I will be praying to You for a W come Jan 21 - that would feel so right, so good.

I noted the threes late in the game as well. Their fans on their feet "disrupting" the Hall's free throws when they're up 50 points was an interesting display of sportsmanship as well. Don't these people have a shred of empathy?
At least we now have the Sports Illustrated jinx going for us. Can anyone stop Duke, indeed.

typical espn. duke blatantly runs up the score and not a mention on espn. that ahole coach k(rybaby) brings his starters back in up 40 with 7-8 minutes left to get the margin to 50, not to mention the 3's being shot. if i were on the floor for the hall someone on duke would have hit the floor hard. i pray that one day they will be on the other end of that type of beating.

We are going to beat up on them like 1990 UNLV this January - don't worry about it. It'll be K's worst loss until he actually takes over Team USA.

There's no such thing as running up the score, especially this early in the year when K is just trying to get his guys some run against a supposedly high major team. If you don't like it, stop them! Like stpetersberg said, don't give them anything to whine about when we hang an epic beating on them in January.

This preseason NIT is sweet!!!!!!!!!!
I get to see Duke play the third best team in the America East, the worst team in the Big East, and maybe (if I'm lucky), they'll play Sam Houston State in the semis!

Would Bill Brasky pull his starters when he went up by fifty? I think not. I fact, Brasky once beat the LA Clippers by himself 2338-0, and when Elton Brand had an open layup at the end of the game, Brasky shot him in the back. So don't tell me about running up the score.
I'm serious though. It's early in the year and Duke is trying to get their guys run. And not their walk-ons...the guys they need to win the ACC. So they were shooting threes. Duke does nothing BUT shoot threes!

Before the game Brasky personally called each of his illegitimate children - it took days, but the game had higher ratings than the Super Bowl and World Series combined.

Here's an interesting thought: Which team would you rather have. The Seton Hall team we saw last night against Duke, or the undermanned St. John's team 2 years ago that we choked against?
I'd have to go with the Johnnies on this one. Even their walk-ons weren't airballing open jump shots (like the Hall did yesterday in the 1st half). Looked like a glorified high school team to me.

Today on PTI, Wilbon was defending Duke's play, saying of Seton Hall, "They're a major Division 1 program. They're not St. Leo!" I assume that's a reference to some of our games with St. Leo, right?
