Pretty poor article, IMO. Most writers will at least make an attempt to add some insight. I'm left asking him a similar question: "Why don't YOU tell me where you think the Hoyas are?"

It was written in the last day or so. I also left him an educational e-mail.

I've got a cousin in sixth grade who could have written that garbage. That crap was relevant in November of 2003... and even then, its pretty poorly written.

Guys, it was written by John Celestand. Cut him some slack -- given that he was a rather annoying guard at Nova, we're just lucky he was clean and sober when he wrote it.

I think the biggest revelation from that piece is that GU could have had JOHN CELESTAND had Pops bothered to recruit him. Imagine pairing Celestand with, well, anyone. There would probably be two banners flying in McDonough by now at least.

He had didn't have one statistic, the man probably can't fact check to save his life. I mean c'mon he didnt mention our record last year or even JTIII's name! This article had absolutely no substance other than Celestand's ignorant opinion. Our exposure has fallen recently sure, but our program is coming back in a major way and it would have taken him 2 minutes on Google to have figured that out.

Guys, I think you are overreacting on this. I enjoyed the article. He may have written it with the thought in mind that a follow-up could be written if the team does as well as he and some others may be expecting. In any case, it gives Gtown a little PR which is always good, and he does show a lot of respect for the Gtown tradition in hoops since the Ewing days. What's not to like? Every puff piece does not have to drip with statistics and prognostications. This is just a little nostalgia trip. Nothing more. There are lots of people just like him that would love to see the Hoyas back in the mix. The fact that he actually played for Villanova and still feels this way is even more enlightening.

Yawn.
I have neither the energy nor the inclination to get worked up about something written by John Celestand.

I think you give him too much credit, Stafford. It reads more like somebody who didn't watch and/or read about any college ball last year. Would have be a good article this time 2 years ago, though! I agree, SaxaCD. There was no date or byline on the article -- when I read it I honestly thought it had been written during the Esh era. I can't believe it was written so recently.

i totally agree i thougth it was from years ago. Oh well any publicity is good publicity right? It'll jsut be that much better when we prove the critics wrong 3 days and little over an hour till game time.

Everyone - he tells you exactly why he's writing this article ...
TRANSLATION: Although as a New Jersey resident I clearly have access to a dozen Hoyas games a year on ESPN and CBS and if I follow my former team at all I am aware of last year's defeat of the Cats at Nova, I will choose to ignore Georgetown as they clearly didn't have any interest in me 20 years ago.

What was it that JTIII said? Something like: "We are Georgetown. Some have forgotten. We will remind them!" First respect, then fear!
