Well, after months reading the board, acquainting myself with the flow of the banter, I decided now is as good a time as any to register and start posting. To give a little background, I graduated in '04 from the college. On the Hilltop I was pretty involved with student activities, running GPB and Georgetown Day and, as a "lasting legacy", orchestrated the school's purchase of the 20' tall inflatable Jack the bulldog.
Ok, enough with the boring bio stuff. I transferred in to Gtown the year after the Sweet 16 run, so me and my fellow transfers caught the 3 WORST years of Hoya basketball in recent memory. Talking with a bunch of them, the excitement around not only this season but the overall direction of the program is outstanding. Out here in Chicago alums are buzzing not only about the arrival of one Mr. Sweetney, but about the upcoming season and the smack down we are going to lay on some local teams. So I look forward to posting with you all in the future and HOYA SAXA

I was wondering about the inflatable bulldog -- who bought it? the Ath. Dept.? What is it used for (other than MM appearances)?

The Center for Student Programs purchased Inflatable Jack. It is for use at most school wide events (Traditions Day, Georgetown Day, SAC Fair, GAAP Weekend, Midnight Madness...you get the picture)...and god, I'm not sure Esh loving me is a good thing...in fact I am fairly certainly its not

Welcome to the board, EP. Any chance that we could get inflatable Jack out to Las Vegas for the John Carroll Awards weekend in April? Just imagine taking that on the plane (even deflated).

Ok, enough with the boring bio stuff. I transferred in to Gtown the year after the Sweet 16 run, so me and my fellow transfers caught the 3 WORST years of Hoya basketball in recent memory. And yet my idea for a lasting legacy--a giant Nat Burton statue in mid-layup outside McDonough--still not off the drawing board. I like the big inflatable Jack though. Just remember, even though you hit the three worst years in recent memory, you still got the precious gift of being able to see Drew Hall, Wesley Wilson's career as a starter, the high-flying Harvey Thomas, Tony Bethel in between the bouts with various sicknesses, Victor's "Shomnick phase", that time when Seton Hall had six guys on the court, the end-game adventures of Kevin Braswell, Courtland Freeman getting nearly beheaded in one of the 4 OT's against ND, Jaron Brown's putback layup, being ahead of Duke for, like, 20 seconds at home, Marcus Hatten almost single handedly erasing a bajillion point deficit in 4 minutes, STEVE LAVIN leaving MCI with a win during that season when UCLA lost EVERY SINGLE CLOSE GAME except that one, something about Gerry McNamara...ESHERICK'S POST-GAME TIRADE. You gotta admit, that one was pretty cool. Welcome to the board, gotta love those 2004 kids.

Welcome ep and good move on "big jack"!
You know, I am just amazed. Looking at FLHoya's post reinforced it. Amazed at how far this program has come in 18 months! From the depths of hopelessness, to a whole new feeling that anything is possible.
What did Freeman say? "You also get the sense that big things are happening over there". What could be better than that. Perhaps the most pursued recruit in the area makes a comment like that?
Whatever the heck JT3 is doing.... keep it up!

HA...I'm pretty sure that was the only time we were on SportsCenter during those 3 years...gotta say Esh's firing landed us our sole appearance on PTI so he was good for something

Hey! Welcome to the board. Everyone is pretty cool here except Wilson Blvd Hoya, who is a total bellend. Bellend?!? I went to Websters and no definition!! LOL! This is the gratitude I get for naming FB's historical comparison of the missions and theologies of Catholicism and Georgetown U with that of Methodism and Duke U the finest post ever on this board?!?! Welcome aboard all ye newcomers (that includes Austin Freeman and there was a nice article in the Bmore Sun about DaJuan Summers yesterday and what an outstanding academic education he'll receive at GU according to his HS coach)! And FB, please post a referent to what bellend means (must be a national security neologism!!). hahahahaha

Frank Black is my new Hero. He is the Picasso of Profanity.
Bellend is going in my bag o' tricks. Always with a "tip" of the hat to Ol' Frank Black!
Don't worry WBH. It is a compliment . . . . really.

ephoya, you're lucky you paid me on homecoming the $20 that you owed me for the Sox coming back against your precious Yanks in 2004, or else I would subject to a neverending string of taunts and barbs on this site.
But we're cool now.

EP, welcome and let me say as a fellow alum who witnessed the horrors that FLHoya listed in his post first-hand, there might not be Hoya fans out there that DESERVE to see a few big time victories and to see this team going places than us.

Just so everyone knows - EP was the greatest head of GPB ever - it was a pleasure working with him.
EDIT: GPB, not HB. I should really not be writing e-mails to the HB board while posting here it tends to screw up my posts.
