A friend of mine attended an AAU event at La Salle University this weekend. NCA had a team there. On Saturday, they lost at the buzzer. Apparently, Troy Brown, who was coaching got in the face of the ref, and ended up punching him. As the ref lay on the ground, several of the NCA players joined their coach in kicking him.
Once the fracas was broken up, NCA hurried out of the building, before security arrived. The rest of the event ended up being cancelled.
Sad. Really sad.

I suggest it is time for them to drop the Christian from their name.

I know this seems like a good source, but it is based on second hand information, and the report may be exaggerated. It is important that we do not have a kneejerk reaction here, especially since Biggie may not have been there or, if he was there, he may not have participated in this alleged behavior.

I don't think anyone suggested it was Biggie that was involved. Just that it was his school. Though I agree a third hand source -- sometimes things are exaggerated -- no disprespect to Hilltopper.

Yeah, fair point, but it is important to stamp things out before the ball of speculation gets rolling. Thus far, Sapp and Ewing (also an NCA product) appear to be great members of the community, so they must be doing some things right at NCA.

Find it hard to believe that something that extreme happened and there is no press coverage popping up yet.

Find it hard to believe that something that extreme happened and there is no press coverage popping up yet. Agreed. Something like that isn't just a little fight that ends up getting ignored... A HS coach and his team beat up a referee in a basketball game at a tournament. That's gonna be closer to a riot than a fight. I searched for it in Google News and came up with nothing, so until I see something official somewhere I'm gonna take the report with a grain.

If the event was an AAU tournament, it could not have been an NCA team involved in the fight. AAU rules are that no more than two players from the same college or high school team can play on the same AAU team. Moreover, the (high school or college) coach is not allowed to provide instruction nor coach his (high school or college) players until the official start of basketball practice. Either the incident was exaggerated or somebody was misinformed about who coached, played on, and sponsored the AAU team.

The story seemed a little too crazy to not have received any pub.

That story is a tad bit flawed. I'm used to attend La Salle and have many contacts still there, several of whom was there. From their accounts, the refs initiated the fight. NCA's coach did get in face, but I take it one of the refs felt threatened and took a swing right there and thats when the team got involved. As for those questioning the validity of this story, take it for what you will but this did INDEED happen. There was an incident. I can't tell you the ins and outs because I wasnt there, I can't get into AAU rules and why there is no press, but there was an incident

FYI - we're locking this thread because it is basically all secondhand information without verifiable corroboration.
