Marquette playing poorly at times but they’ve also been fighting against the refs with some wild no calls imo

Igodoro has been the big non factor in this game Not scoring Getting out passed by DJ Burns And closing his eyes when going for rebounds. He’s fumbled 3 sure rebounds
I’ve never seen him look this bad

They need to play the foul game now

Marq had plenty of opptys. NC State hits open looks--Quette does not

Why aren’t they fouling? Bad strategy by Marquette there

Marq shot 30% from 2 and 12% from 3. Nobody can win shooting like that.

Good win for NC State. Was rooting for them in the aCc tournament vs the pretenders (uva, unc)
This is exactly why the Big East should have had more than just 3 teams. Probability of making elite 8, final 4 increase exponentially when you have 6 big east teams compare to 3 teams.

Marq shot 30% from 2 and 12% from 3. Nobody can win shooting like that. They were shook. Their qB, Igodoro was intimidated. Normally he’s the point center initiating the offense and getting a lot of assists or point but NC state shut him down. Great game plan by NC state

It's hard to figure this stuff. Alabama was probably playing their worst basketball of the season coming into the tournament, and Clemson lost by 20 to BC in the ACC tournament. And now they're playing for a spot in the Final Four. Are we sure this isn't the Sugar Bowl?

Unfortunately Marquette came into this game off from the outset. Had they been playing UConn this way it’s a 40 point loss. They didn’t play their brand of basketball (maybe partially due to NC State) they were right there to make a push with a few minutes left. The way they shot was pretty unbelievable. These were not contested 3’s but often wide open.

And now TN running Creighton off the court. Unfortunately not a good night for the Big East so far.

The Big East is soft in this tournament UCon will have to save the day. I could never root for UCon. Hoyas get tougher for 2025.

Dook whistle in full effect - Filipowski bulls into the lane, throws a shoulder into the chest of the defender who has solid guarding position, hands up, and gets knocked backwards - and they call a defensive foul. SMH

Houston lost essentially their best player yet still could have won if they hadn’t given away so many points at the FT line (9-17).
More fight from Creighton than some expected, but giving up 18-0 runs is not a winning plan as our Hoyas amply demonstrated this past year. Great adjustment by McDermott with the junk defenses that got them back in the game.

BE Teams other than UCONN generally not great shooting teams. Overall BE talent level a bit lower than SEC/ACC top teams. Houston also not a good shooting team. Obviously losing their PG hurt, but poor shooting from field and FT did them in.

These things tend to happen in critical games. Patrick would be NBA World Champion but John Starks goes 2-18 in game 7 of the NBA Finals. The main problem for Marquette though was that NC State disrupted their offense with Diarra and Burns. Igororo was ineffective which led to a breakdown of their system and they just resorted to throwing up 3s cause they couldn’t attack the basket.
