Since the annual current bracket/pairings have started on this site, figure a thread with info of note about the annual Big East Tournament is not too soon either. Two items to share:
(1) St. John's has all but clinched no worse than the #7 seed. This is relevant to us because Hoyas are almost guaranteed to be the #10 seed, provided Hoyas win at DePaul, and #10 plays #7 seed Wednesday in the tourney at 6:30. This is because St. John's has already won three games and lost none head-to-head with fellow 6-7 foes Villanova and Providence and thus hold the "mini-conference" 4 game tiebreaker over those two teams should they end up tied. Only way St. John's, also 2-0 against Villanova, falls below #7 (absent just finishing flat-footed behind Villanova or Providence record-wise) is if they lose to Providence THIS Tuesday and end up solely in a tie with the Friars, where they would then have split the head to head -- and even then would depend on who has the win over the best team in front of them (starting from conference champ on down). So keep an eye on TWO Tuesday games: ours at Creighton, and Johnnies at Providence. To avoid playing the Johnnies Wednesday in NYC (which we do A LOT) I would therefore normally root for them to catch/pass the #6 team, but that is Butler and we know how THAT has gone this year. So strap in for likely Ed vs. Rick "away" games back-to-back (our last regular season game is in the Garden against the Johnnies, too).
(2) My understanding is that tix for the tournament are being held up by ticket allotment issues from the Conference (I think some schools typically return what they are entitled to get -- hello, DePaul!); they should be available very soon.

Thanks for the tickets heads up. I won’t be needing them this year.

With Providence’s win over St.John’s last night (not to mention my now-growing fear we could lose at DePaul), our Wednesday foe completely up in the air among Villanova, Butler, St. John’s, Providence and Xavier. Last year I know the ticket office knew what a hard sell a whole tourney package was, so did make available single game tix (sadly, perhaps the office will think it prudent to have to do that again). As an aide from a long time attendee, one the advantages of the “reform” of the conference a decade back was that staying for the whole tourney even after the Hoyas lost wasn’t as painful, as fan bases of remaining teams generally were not as trying. But with return of UConn and Providence becoming what they have become, not as true now.

I'll be there, b/c it's by far the best game of the year these days. That 6:30 timeslot for the 7/10 matchup is also perfect.
SJU, Nova, and PC would all be fun matchups. Even SHU, if they continue to slide.
Xavier & Butler - boring.

In the *gasp* event that we are the 11 seed, is the 6/11 game the late game on Wednesday?

In the *gasp* event that we are the 11 seed, is the 6/11 game the late game on Wednesday? It's the late game - 9pm. The early one - 4pm - is 8/9. That one could be fun, too -- with PC, SJU, and Nova in that mix.

I'm still optimistic that we can win 3 or 4 of our last 7 Big East games. Villanova and Providence are both vulnerable and we can beat St. John's. Neptune and English will both be puckering up big time knowing that a loss against us will killl their NCAA chances.

Availability of BET tix must be imminent, as I just accessed my on-line account and see tix for the first three sessions already in there ($90 for Wednesday and $120 for each session Thursday). I'm sure this was some sort of placeholder thing/have sent an email to the ticket office inquiring but just know the flag is about to drop (if it hasn't already in your account).

The invoice I was looking at was from LAST year's tourney, but I am advised release is imminent and only packages (all sessions) this year...

FYI--Received an email from GU yesterday. My slot opens at 10:30 am on President's Day. I don't think it's going to be a Taylor Swift crashing TicketMaster event but we're a sleeping giant so who knows

Tix now available (at least to some donor levels/probably season ticket holders on the ticket account page). My experience is that site is a little uncertain — sometimes even after one signs in the Big East option may not appear. Calling our ticket office seems to be a good alternative if that happens…

One other thing to watch as the season winds down (besides whether we can eke out a third regular season conference win): four teams within a game of each other right above us in the standings in the 6-9 positions (Xavier, St. John’s, Villanova, Butler). Johnnies with only two remaining games; all others with 3 and we play all but Butler. Relevant for us especially as we are virtually guaranteed to finish 10 of course and will play 7 seed in BET and all teams will be battling to finish at least 7 if not 6 so get either DePaul or Hoyas in opening game — and all but I think Butler have some hope of making NCAA tourney too so quite the dogfight down the stretch. A third Hoya /Providence game would be wildly entertaining Methinks and will be what I’ll be rooting for, with a rematch immediately after closing the regular season against them at the same place against St. John’s my second choice
