Heaths' face says it all, he's checked out. No effort defensively.

It’s all about talent. Unless Cooley can recruit some quality players then this will never end Has two really good players coming next year in a guard and big. Also a decent forward and one additional player. Still two open scholarships. Cooley had one of this three freshman follow him from Providence (tough when changing schools and isn't to a conference step-up to draw players to get more exposure. Big East to Big East is a push (of course) but going for a decent academic university to one that is tougher, can be really tough draw for players more interesting in playing than getting an education). Cooley is back in his recruiting book from here on out. Not running a player rental agency like Ewing as Cooley has been building relationships with players for many years.

Y’all will likely get Dug as long as no one comes in with a suitcase that tops your NIL bag

Leaving at halftime. Looks like a low major against a very good team, which I guess is what it is. The team looks completely uncoached defensively - just disgusting to watch. The embarrassment continues.

This is about how I thought the first game would go. Spotted UCon a 20 point lead before getting a lineup that would put more connected effort into D and moving the ball on offense.

If only Cooley had played Brumbaugh and Fielder more in OOC games we may have a much better team right now. And cmon, I don’t care how bad Ryan is you knew you’d be facing quality 7 footers in BE this year. Had to figure out a more useful role for him

The road out of basketball perdition is long and chock full of potholes.
That said, this team is light years from respectability on the Court.

Mid-range jumper over Clingan working too.

Styles has it working at the moment with the mid-range jumper. Keeps him away from Clingan and with step back keeps his cover off balance too

Honestly this is what I expected the first game. That was a mirage how that game stayed close.
Now that the UConn and Marquette games are over, I hope for more competitive games in all (maybe except Creighton). If we only win 2 games this year it’ll be an utter disaster. And I’m as big a Cooley fan as any, but this is not a good look.

Really would like to see Fielder in over Ish to keep inside Karaban in check and had a little more defense. Ish isn't offering much offensively and much less defensively.

Why is this coaching staff being excused for the defensive effort (or lack thereof) this team puts forth?

Disagree. On a good team with a quality front court he’d be a BE assist leader and by junior year be your on court leader He has the understanding but he currently doesn’t have the handle or quickness. Maybe it comes with time. He certainly hs a much higher PG ceiling than Epps.
