One of the most fun regular season games of the JTIII era. I planned ahead and stayed downtown the night before - got stuck downtown for 2 more nights as the aboveground Metrorail froze. That was quite a week of basketball save for the USF letdown! After losing to USF at home, the Hoyas came out and whupped the #2 team in the country, beating Villanova 103-90 during a blizzard in Washington, DC. The win completes a whirlwind week where Georgetown beat Duke last Saturday in front of President Obama, then pooped the bed Wednesday at home against South Florida, and then thoroughly dominated Villanova, handing them their first loss in Big East conference play. www.casualhoya.com/2010/2/6/1298569/blizzard-game-georgetown-bombards

That game was a blast. My wife, another friend, and I walked to the game from our place in Burleith and walked back at the end. DC blanketed in snow was spectacular and the game was an absolute blast!

There was snow for the Duke game too, though nothing like the "Snowmageddon" that occurreed and was predicted in advance of the 'Nova game. Getting to Duke wasn't easy, and my thoughtful spouse rented a Ford F-150 midweek to be sure I could make it to Villanova (not only four-wheel drive but high ground clearance essential, especially to climb a hill from our house). When the predicted snow arrived, I did a test drive to Verizon Center at like 8AM Saturday, and but for the lack of zombies really did look like the end of the world. By the time game time rolled around, was a little more passable but not much, and "crowd" sparse for tip, but filled up by halftime as people realized it was being played/a good time.
The other big thing I remember is that a classmate's son, who was a student himself at the time, metro'd to the game with several of the Villanova players, who already were in their warm-ups (Socttie Reynolds I think among them, then in about his 12th year as a Wildcat...)

Even after two more nights downtown staying at the Army Navy Club, Metrorail was still frozen at the aboveground stations so I took the Red Line to Ft Totten and trudged 3 miles in the snow to my condo in downtown Silver Spring. Good times!

I'm glad many of you were able to make the game but those of us living farther out of town were stuck with watching the game on TV and eating the $120 worth of tickets we bought weeks before.
