Not sure who is going to be able to stop Richmond. Rowan and Bristol likely not strong enough. That leaves only Styles. But Addae Wusu is also built like a linebacker at 6-4 230 lbs. This will be a really tough game for us.

I agree, this is a tough match-up for Gtown. Have to make them prove they can hit 3's Defensively their length & strength will be an issue as well. Looking forward to it, this season is all about growth & development

Seton Hall is better this year than I thought they would be, but they are offensively challenged. They play relentless defense, force turnovers and attack the glass, which is going to keep them in every game and allow them to beat some more talented teams sometimes. This should be the type of game that a Cooley team does well in, but I am not sure if he has the depth/talent this year to win these games consistently. I do expect it to be a close and competitive game

SHU is not good from 3. If the Hoyas shoot well from 3 and improve its 2 pt FG defense they can win this game.

SHU isn't a great team. Their offense is sluggish and disjointed, and survives on the offensive boards. That obviously doesn't bode well for us, but get Bediako in foul trouble -- and we can compete. We're not terrible on the ball defenders -- just play that high screen for Richmond well.
I know they've had a good couple of weeks, but this is a game we can steal. Everybody's pal, KenPom, currently has this as our 2nd highest win probability 'til the end of the year... so if not now, when?

People keep underestimating Shaheen but he has beaten board favorites (Shaka Smart and Danny Hurley) and Dough McDermot. He continues to prove all the doubters wrong. They should probably crack the top 25 soon unless they lose to us. His team is athletic, physical, connected and hustle relentlessly and have high motors.

Seton Hall, if they keep playing better, may find themselves in bubble territory, but I think the odds they hit the Top 25 are pretty low unless they keep steamrolling over the Big East. Seton Hall has some good wins in their last 4 games, but really had none before that. So we will see how it shakes out. This is one of our best chances to win another game. Seton Hall does not shoot threes well (way below average), nor do they shoot many of them. And they don't shoot twos well either (only slightly above average). They also turn it over a ton on offense, though they are pretty good at forcing turnovers on defense too. They are top 10 in offensive rebounding, so the boards will need to be a big focus for our guys. If we can overcome their defense and shoot well from three, we have a good chance to win this one.

Not knowing SH like the rest of you, from what I read it makes sense to pull our defense in closer to the hoop to challenge them to shoot threes, but even moreso to be in position to fight for defensive rebounds as well as tightening pathways for them to drive.

My guess is we see a lot of zone from the Hoyas and then a hope for gang rebounding. SH guards like to exploit matchups and backdown defenders in paint - limiting that will be a priority.
IMO, the competitiveness of this game will depend how we value the ball against tight/physical D. No surprise.

I expect this game to look more like the Butler game, which means we have a chance. But the late first half scoring drought / defensive lapses doomed us that night. I feel like we are capable of winning play for 20-30 minutes a night, but we can't seem to do it for two full halves. While stating the obvious, we aren't good enough to spot any BE teams 10-12 points, and expect to overcome that. If we can put a consistent 40 mins together of decent offense, connected defense, I do think this is a game we can be in at the end. Seton Hall doesn't have the offensive firepower to blow us off the court like Creighton or Marquette did.

I have watched SHU several times and I do see significant improvement from them in recent games. They appear to be making the jump we are all hoping to see from the Hoyas by February. With the exception of Xavier all the recent games have looked like a team coming together and improving. Hoyas cannot afford one of their dry spells on offense or this becomes Butler all over with the Pirates holding onto a 10-12 point lead throughout. Hoyas will get handled if they abandon ball movement and become over-reliant on ball-handling. SHU guards are too good defensively.

Seton Hall is horrible from three, and we don't defend the paint well. Other than the rebounding problems it creates against a team that's really good at offensive rebounding as it is, I think a zone would be beneficial. Let them beat us from three and stop the easy points at the rim.

Ryan, don’t take the fouls with you. We don’t have help defense, so anyone who gets past you gets fouled. Some hard fouls will make some players hesitate…

Disagree. Seton Hall May be the best team in the big east. They are very good but also at the top this year the big east isnt as good as last year. UConn and Creighton are both not as good as last year and have holes. Marquette has some issues. There may be more good teams in the big east (when you include St. John’s, seton hall) this year but not great teams. Seton hall is a very tough game for us. There are other teams that we have a better chance at beating.
