There has to be a supercut somewhere of all the Republican Senators and Representatives (Graham, McCarthy, etc.) who KNEW with absolute certainty and made it clear at the time that Trump was directly responsible for January 6, only to later return to being the obsequious, spineless, sniveling, craven, little Editedants they’ve always been. These people deserve nothing but contempt and should go down in history as some of America’s greatest traitors for enabling America’s single greatest traitor and demagogue.

"Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain."

Definition of chutzpah. I can't imagine that this case proceeds beyond a motion to dismiss. In FTCA suits there is no jury only bench trials. I can't imagine a sympathetic judge in these circumstances but you never know. See, Judge Aileen "Loose" Cannon. The family of a woman who was fatally shot by a police officer during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol has sued the U.S. government, alleging wrongful death, assault and negligence. Ashli Babbitt, 35, of California, was among a mob of supporters of President Donald Trump who stormed the Capitol trying to disrupt congressional certification of President Biden’s election victory. She was fatally shot by a U.S. Capitol Police officer as she raised herself into the opening of a broken glass door panel deep inside the building. The panel had been dislodged by members of the mob who were trying to get through. The lawsuit, which seeks $30 million, was brought by her husband Aaron Babbitt, who is executor of his wife’s estate. He and the estate are represented by lawyers for the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, who filed the case in a U.S. District Court in California on Friday, the eve of the anniversary of the insurrection. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/01/06/ashli-babbitt-wrongful-death-lawsuit/

Or maybe it was the FBI. That's the story line, right?

Wo, what a surprise! The state that once elected William Proxmire and Gaylord Nelson.
