Not the best comeback ever, off the top of my head I've got
-Syracuse to close down Manley - 2007 elite 8 to beat Carolina -Kentucky in the 1984 semi -At BC to come back from down 3 pre shot clock with almost no time on the clock -Down 22 to Manhattan with 9 minutes left, no three point shot and no shot clock
But maybe the best last 4 or 5 minutes (of regulation) I have ever seen a Hoya play

I had been wondering how, based on what he had shown in the first few games, Epps had scored 46 points in the scrimmage vs. Wake Forest
Now I understand
unfortunately I think we are going to need him to play like that regularly to have much of a chance of beating most Big East teams. Which is not going to happen more than a couple of times a season, if that.

Which is not going to happen more than a couple of times a season, if that. The team's key to beating Big East teams will come down to them doing THREE things in a game all at once. 1-Shoot reasonably well (doesn't have to be lights out although shooting lights out could lead to victories over the elite BE teams). 2-Rebound reasonably well (either outrebounding the other squad or not having a deficit anymore than five) 3-Keep turnovers low There have been games so far in which we did at least one of those three things but not one in which we did all three. Against BE we will need to do all three. I like this team's togetherness. I feel good that the coaching staff is demanding of them in terms of their own court performance. I think the team has three legit scorers in Epps, Styles and Heath and possibly a fourth eventually in Brumbaugh. And there is a possibility that the return of Massoud will open up things even more, along with adding needed frontcourt depth.

Austin Freeman had a 33 point day against UConn in 2010 to erase a 19 point deficit. That one sticks out to me still.

2007 Elite Eight has nothing on this. Lol. I was there at the Meadowlands. From the Wallace three to tie it to the OT domination - man that was a fun one! The last 6:30 of regulation against UNC, plus OT…was not only the best comeback but the best stretch of basketball I have ever seen the Hoyas play against a quality opponent.

Let me add the "Esherick" GW game to the list. On Feb 22, 1978, Hoyas were down 5 to its then annual arch rival with just more than a minute left; stormed back to forge the tie only to have GW's Les "High Rise" Anderson (their equivalent in almost every way, especially nickname, to our Craig "Big Sky Shelton, only not as strong -- or good -- but with a smooth jumper) hit a 15 footer from the free throw line to give the team then known as the Colonials a 2 point lead. JT inserted the little used DNP-coach's decision to that point that game senior guard Craig Esherick as we needed a jumper/prayer for the tie. And it was answered, as the just-inserted "other" Craig took a pass just over the half-court line/in front of the scorer's table/just down from the GU bench and JT and Craig got off a spinning set shot (there was NO jump involved). Horn sounded as the ball hit its apex and then dropped cleanly through to answer the prayer/forged the tie (this of course was before the 3 point shot). HOYAS WIN! HOYAS WIN! HOYAS WIN! in OT 78--77. And in this instance I've been able to confirm my memory of the shot, as the game is on film (now digitized) in the special collection section of Lauinger (5th floor). And some explanation of what is still the really unexplainable/inexplicable win over BC in late January '80 at the Roberts Center (which I happened to be at in person and remember relatively well). Hoyas were down by a bundle (like 8 points) with a little more than a minute left and, pre-three point shot staged what really was a furious rally but looked like it was gonna be too little/too late. BC as I recall scores to go up 3 to seemingly finally salt it away with maybe 3 seconds on the clock. With no three-point shot, if the Eagles just walk off the court they win. But they don't and instead after a long pass to him and his quick yet calm move to the hoop the Eagles foul one of our three- headed-monsters at center that year (Mike Frazier) as he lays it in. With no time left and all the pressure imaginable on him, Mike makes the free throw for the tie and Hoyas pull away in OT to prevail 97-92. The visiting fan reception afterward (where BC cheerleaders are forced to serve as bartenders) too enjoyable for words. And the game allowed Hoyas to stay on a heater that lasted 15 games (until the Iowa loss). And to finish in a three-way tie (with SUcks and SJ) at 5-1 for a share of the first Big East regular season title (and of course we won the BET that year in Providence) And let me close with this nugget, that I am REALLY hoping gets updated soon. In 2005 HoyaChris put together a rank list of the Top 50 Hoya hoopsters of the Thompson era; it is incredibly thorough and educational, especially to anyone who didn't live through the early years (i.e. have a lot more years to live today). It is still in the "history" section on hoyasaxa.com (so has a certain stamp of authority to it -- not just my rambling reference), but for convenience is relinked below. Of course there are many players who would be added (such as Green, Porter, Hibbert, Starks, just to pull some names, and would be even more interesting to see where more questionable names could fall -- Summers? Trawick? Blair?) and many who would be dropped these 18 years later, hence I for one intend to be quite the update pest...In the meantime, please enjoy! www.hoyabasketball.com/features/top50-thompson.htm

These were good comebacks what everyone not saying this was 10 points in 3 minutes though not over 10 minutes or more. And the way they came back completely out of gas went down11 points looked dead in the water. Then in a 1:30 scoring like 8 points then a three to send it to overtime was just unbelievable the way they did it. Go Hoyas!

WVU - Iverson bringing the guys back from 12 down & 2+ minutes left will always stick in my head.
The best possible way to walk out of that nightmare of a gym.

(see also - 4pt play) The lob from Page to Iverson alone made it memorable. That was a Saturday game that had me cursing for much of the contest. But the comeback at such a hostile environment was sweet.

It may not be as flashy as some of the other comebacks listed in this thread, but the Georgetown comeback in 2012 against Marquette was pretty nice too. They were trailing 56-39 with 13 minutes to play the game and won. That game capped off winning 4 consecutive games against ranked opponents.

Reggie and the Miracles vs. Ohio State in the 1987 Sweet 16. Met my future in-laws that day for the first time, only to have them see me screaming at the TV as the Hoyas went down double digits at the half. I was in a much better mood after the comeback.
