Don't know how to start this discussion without Sleepy Floyd and Reggie Williams.

Unfortunately, some of our greatest scorers from the glory days, either didn't play with the three point shot, or didn't utilize it much, as part of our offense. Clearly, if you needed a hoop in crunch time, you couldn't go wrong with Sleepy or Reggie, or for that matter going back further, John Duren, who would have been an excellent pro if not for his knee injuries. Michael Jackson was amazing in clutch time, too. But its hard to recall how many of their shots were really from the three point line. Reggie played with the three for only one year, shooting 38%. So from three, I'd say Jon Wallace, as well, with honorable mention to Hollis Thompson, who also happens to be one of the 76ers all time leading three point shooters!

But the Smith buzzer beat shot I associate him with was a layup at the Dome on Jan. 24, 1988. IIRC, after he made the layup he just kept running into the tunnel and straight to the locker room: Georgetown came in ranked No. 15 and Syracuse was one spot ahead at No. 14. One last-second shot wasn’t enough in this contest between the two rivals. Syracuse’s Sherman Douglas gave the Orangemen a 68-67 lead with eight seconds remaining in the game. Unlike today, the game clock didn’t stop running after a made shot in the last minute of the game. So Georgetown had to inbound the ball and get it upcourt quickly. The Hoyas did just that with point guard Charles Smith dodging through traffic. Smith’s layup went through the net just as the buzzer sounded for a 69-68 victory. I stand by Wallace for a three. That said smith with the ball in his hands at the end of the game. Also had a baseline runner to beat providence in ‘89. I was at the game and won’t forget 10 year old me in head to toe gtown gear jumping for joy in a dead silent providence civic center

I would prob pick Reggie, but a little surprised no mention of a certain potential Answer to this question.. It seemed like the question was focused on the three point shot. Obviously AI could make them...but not sure it was strongest part of his Hall OF Fame game?

I don’t think you go with Wallace on a “contested three.” Reggie is 6’7” and could create space.

I would prob pick Reggie, but a little surprised no mention of a certain potential Answer to this question.. Probably because Allen Iverson, for all his talents, was not a generational shooter: 31 percent from three in two seasons at Georgetown, 44 percent overall. He was a volume shooter, averaging just under 18 shots a game.

Reggie….but part of me wants to say Otto. Just thinking about what he did to Cuse at Cuse. It bugs me that I can’t find that game anywhere online to rewatch. As if it was from the 80’s and not 2013.

It’s a Hoyas win. The majority of Gtown games remaining on YouTube are of Hoya losses. Someone from Syracuse must be running the operation.

Allen could draw a foul with the best of em

I thought I had posted this already, but it didn’t go through. I give Otto the nod because he is much taller than Jon.
Seems like Reggie would be that guy but I was too young to be interested in sports in general back then.

I would prob pick Reggie, but a little surprised no mention of a certain potential Answer to this question.. I see it as a scorer v. shooter distinction. AI was a great scorer but not necessarily a great shooter.
