English speaks at about 54:10 mark of video for maybe 8 minutes/doesn’t mention any specific players. However, feed starts with video about 13 minute mark of several players walking in/sitting in front row in sweats. Looks like a couple could be Hopkins and Croswell/just can’t tell…. English with a classy thank you to Cooley (applause by crowd) for what he built/cupboard not bare. English overall good was my impression (no surprise) with a great line/likes to say “So what. Now what?” in terms of looking forward/acknowledging the tough recent weeks at Providence…. Aapparently, like us, Provy also needed a new woman’s hoops coach, who shared the spotlight…

Looks like Carter and Hopkins were there but Provy fans acknowledge that doesn’t mean anything without more. 247sports.com/college/providence/board/102629/Contents/press-conference-207505799/?page=1

Did anyone ask him about his dream job at Georgetown?

Remember that Spears and Murray were not at Cooley's press conference. That is an extremely impressive fan turnout, by the way. Probably 10 times as many Providence fans in attendance as Georgetown fans at Cooley's presser.

From Providence board today:
“FRFriar Posted on 75 mins, , User Since 95 months ago, User Post Count: 460 75 mins 95 months 460 Knowing how, in years past, this board had discussions on “body language”, I liked BHop’s body language better than Carter’s”

Kim English was my dark horse for the Gtown job. This will be interesting next season watching Cooley going against English in a coaching chess match.

Congrats to providence. They hired a coach good at press conferences. Unclear yet whether he’s good at, ya know, coaching. He certainly didn’t set the world on fire at Mason.
Cooley is good at press conferences…oh and he has a record of excelling in the big East. Providence fans’ insanity reveals their true feelings about who they think is the better coach.

If English does better than Cooley, we can just poach English. We are, Georgetown!

Congrats to providence. They hired a coach good at press conferences. Unclear yet whether he’s good at, ya know, coaching. He certainly didn’t set the world on fire at Mason. I watched. Kim English was okay - he threw the right amount of shade at Ed for leaving even though what he said was patently absurd ("I've never lobbied for a job in my life" - and then lists the five job changes he's made over the last nine years). Providence fans loved that, but their program has been successful so they don't need that much out of a press conference. Altogether it was pretty basic rah rah stuff though, and I didn't get a sense of vision from it. Ed Cooley was a masterclass though. Our program has been in a terrible way with almost every form of stakeholder - basketball alumni, donors, regular alumni, non-alumni fans, cheer kids, band kids, Professors, the rest of the Athletic Department, our own Athletic Director, animal mascots, etc. Providence's fan base is a pretty heterogenous group - Georgetown's fan base and support system is not. In one press conference he tried to repair all of those fault lines while at the same time showing admiration to the people who came before and distinguishing himself from them without being disrespectful. There's a vision there that was lacking in English's presentation.
