Back in the day, I arrived at GU in 1964, DC was really a southern city. Remember first time I had grits was at Tehan's. The Redskins drew fans from Va and points south and the Senators did also. Both owners were avowed racists and Clark Griffith took the Senators to Minnesota to get away from Chocolate city. Amazing how things change in 60 years. The city still has plenty of southern characteristics I’d argue. It’s not really northeast industrial. Definitely not Northeast Industrial. More like Mid Atlantic white collar. Or as JFK said, "DC is a city of Southern efficiency and Northern charm".

In 1964, the DC black population was roughly 55%. The black population grew to 71% in 1970 and stayed that way through the late 1980s. Today? 45% black, 41% white, 11% Hispanic.

ACC to Change Narrative"ACC commissioner Jim Phillips told ESPN on Saturday that he will meet with his league's men's basketball coaches and athletic directors as soon as the season ends to discuss ways to be more "proactive" and "aggressive" in changing the narrative surrounding the conference." The ACC got only five bids this season to the men's NCAA tournament, a big disappointment to Phillips and to those inside his league. He remains steadfast in his belief that Clemson and North Carolina should have made the tournament." The idea that Clemson should have made the tournament is absurd. They lost to KenPom teams ranked 221, 254, 170, and 290. And the ACC cannot change the "narrative" if their teams aren't good enough. Anyway, I recommend reading the whole article.

ACC might not even exists in 5 years. K gone. Williams gone. Larranaga is 74 years old. Leaonard Hamilton is 74. Wait until they both retire. The football situation is worse. Just bad all around.
Terps made a smart move leaving that dump.
