Hope they can get a UConn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Stanford assistant, with Asst. Coaches tied into the DMV high school/AAU recruiting scene
or Larry Vickers - current head coach at Norfolk State

UCONN and South Carolina have longtime lead assistants that would probably stay. I think Stanford as well.

Should have reassigned Patrick. Make him earn his money. They would all walk. There wasn't much appreciation there.

Is it fair to ask how the amount of money paid to the men’s coach will affect the availability of $$$ to hire a quality women’s coach?

Always could pull from Maryland women's coaching staff which has been really good at coaching what they have to play beyond limitations.

I hope they can run a non Jack interfering search but I’m just gonna jump straight to what this thread probably will lead to, facilities. Renovating McD would’ve helped the women’s program grow and be more attractive to candidates along with long term savings on cap one. Or a real crazy idea would’ve been the admin being proactive by trying to collab on the mystics’ S&E arena to have it put across the bridge in Rosslyn instead of far from many people in the city. Boom “on campus” arena for mens and womens hoops. Immediately help the program instead of playing in the gym that’s falling apart and save money on men’s rental of Cap one by not using it for every game
I am not exactly sure what the budget is for the womens hoops but taking a good assistant seems to be all the rage this season at least in the mens game.

It’s a few years too early, but I would love to see Sugar Rodgers get a shot here. I got a chance to watch her at several women’s games last year when she was brought in as an assistant. She commanded so much respect, and was so engaged with all of the players on the bench, in fairly sharp contrast to the rest of the staff. (In fact, and I say this, but no evidence, or inside knowledge, it almost seemed like she was dismissed at the end of the season because she caused insecurity in the rest of the coaching staff). Several players were crushed at the news that she was let go.
I am not generally a “let’s keep it all in the family” kind of fan, but from what I’ve seen, Coach Sugar is something special, in terms of her skill, her knowledge of the game, and her ability to connect with student-athletes. And I could see this is the kind of case where, if she brought in a former head coach (George Blaney role) as an associate HC, you could see something really special.
I just wish this opportunity came and she had a couple more years of coaching experience under her belt, because it’s likely too much of a stretch to make that hire now.

would have to give her Ewing money!!!! More money. She is a hall of fame player and soon to be Hall of Fame coach who is already 2-time National champion coach. Favorite to win a 3rd this year.

We don't have to be talking Staley to question whether some of the money reportedly being thrown at Ed Cooley (6m?) could be reasonably diverted to hire a fine coach for the women's program.

Huh? lol Some of ya'll gotta relax with this stuff. A couple of us on here want her as a candidate for the men's team. That's it. It won't happen, but yeah.

But that shouldn't rule out someone else with talent if we're willing to devote some resources to the hire while throwing huge bucks at Ed Cooley. BTW, I have no idea what you are lol-ing.
