Hoping for another miracle finish for my Aztecs. Even if SDSU was not playing I have a hard time rooting for Hurley.

There were some questionable calls, but, bottom line, the margin was 17 and the winners were much quicker to the basket and the losers didn't really guard that well. I've seen that movie before with the Hoyas, so I'm confident saying that. Totally agree the refs didn't decide the outcome, but they weren't really up to the task of that game. I didn't post the above tweet for the Lupica comment above it, just the picture. Most college mens coaches would get a bench warning then a T for being that far out on the court (multiple times). Even the announcers were all over the refs, early especially, and how many times do those dogs bite the hand like that? Agree didn’t really decide the game but calling the ticky tack (if not outright phantom) stuff and ignoring bigger things just grossly unfair to both teams and players. A lot of us (he says waving hand in the air) don’t watch the women’s game much and I sure didn’t tune in to see that crew destroy the rhythm of the game like that…

Better fit for her and achieved her goal with the best coach in basketball. Gross, no way (Geno, Staley, VanDerVerr, etc). She has more National championships than Staley and VanDerrverr. 3rd most all time. Geno hasn't won a National title since 2016. Mulkey won in 2019 with Baylor. Left a top-flight program in Baylor she built. Went to LSU and rebuilt their program within 2 years and won it again 2023.

102 points.
I guess the tight foul calling was the reason Iowa played poor defense.

As excited as I am about Cooley, I still have not forgotten that DeGioia and Co. hired Patrick Ewing without even bothering to interview Dan Hurley.

Thank you for reminding everybody so I didn’t get in trouble for doing it. Congrats to UCONN on a dominant run. Thank goodness they returned to the Big East. Happy for Dan Hurley, his great coaching staff and a tough group of talented players.

UConn averaged winning their NCAA games by exactly 20 points, with “closest” the 13 point win over Miami in the semis. Coincidentally, the two similar runs Nantz mentioned at the end where the champs won every game by at least double digits — Villanova 2018 and UNC 2009 — also culminated in 17 point championship game wins, with Villanova’s average margin a little less than UConn’s and UNC’s a little more. The run reminded me of Michigan State/Magic, who averaged winning by 21 points and their “closest” game was 11 over Bird/Indiana State in the final.
A Hoya centric anomaly: the closest win UConn had in the regular season was over Hoyas by 6 (68-62) with Hoyas up 61-60 at the least media time out. And the other win over the blue and gray was by “only” 11…

What further anguishes me about the UConn’s title is that it could have been us there if we made the right hire in 2017; the media was clamoring that the job should go to Hurley and even Jay Williams publicly said that it should have been Hurley not Ewing.
Fast forward 5 years and here we are; another rebuild with a coach poached from the same conference instead of Pitno whom the media was also promoting for this job… really hope Cooley will take us to the promised land but a lot of people will be upset if Pitno replicates what Hurley has done while we don’t make past the 2nd weekend of the tourney…

“Dr.” Jill Biden wants both Iowa and LSU to come to the White House.
Another step in the road to everybody gets a trophy.
Good for Angel Reese for calling it a joke.

Right, cause ghuck those second place losers. They don’t deserve any respect. Reese is showing exactly how much class she has w comments like that. Try winning with respect next time Angela, see how that feels. And everybody whose doctorate is in something other than medicine should just be a “doctor” and not a Dr too, cause they don’t deserve respect either. Nice work there El, posting w class and dignity. You going to go down to campus and take the Drs down off all our professors’ doors? Or only the women?

Team runner ups at the White House haven’t been done ever IIRC. It does kind of steal the moment from LSU and Reese by forcing them to share it with Kaitlin Clark and Iowa. I wonder if Reese and LSU would have been invited if they had lost.

Not sure if The Godfather, Calhoun is still running things Behind the scenes but the roster construction and play is very similar to the Calhoun UConn teams. So not sure if Hurley would have had similar success if he had come here while JT2 was still running things.

Way to go Big East. NCAA Champs and NCAA coach of the year.
Think UCONN will ever get "blue blood" recognition along with UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, or Duke? Five titles in 24 years.

It is a tone deaf request on Jill's (and her advisors) part. Just like Jill's 'taco' comments in the past. Clueless. It is a joke, and Angel is right.
Our 1984-1985 team should have been invited to the White House, if that is the case. Opposing team shot 75%, Reggie got hurt, and we still only lost by 2.
