The only way they beat us if they score and able to deploy their press - other than that we should win. Isn't one of their main players suspended indefinitely (whatever that means) and some reports of dissention in their locker-room. I guess we will see. Q off the bench seemed to have worked.

Another matter of interest tonight: Butler is at DePaul and if the Bulldogs have the bounce back win (will be their sixth on year) it will lock Hoyas in, win or lose tonight, into no better than #10 seed/playing second game (5ish) on Wednesday of BET. Of course, a lot of things would have to break correctly for the Hoyas to escape the cellar and the 11 vs 6 late game Wednesday no matter what (especially as of now both DePaul and Butler hold the tiebreaker over Hoyas by virtue of their wins over Xavier) and I’ve personally assumed the late game for a while now (have head a theater meatiness ticket for a month😱); nonetheless, thought if anyone was looking for something (else) to pay attention to tonight and which could be helpful…. The Hoyas have been locked in to no higher than 10th for a long time. There is no chance of catching Butler and there has been no chance of catching Butler for weeks. It would be nice to catch DePaul and get out of the basement.

As a practical matter I agree but not mathematically if they were to win out (which would include a win over Creighton) and Butler lose out. And let me expand briefly on that conclusion. If Butler wins they have 6 wins and Hoya's can't get to that many/Butler clinches 9th at worst no matter what. In contrast, if Butler loses out and Hoyas win out they each have 5 wins and the first Big East tourney seeding tiebreaker won't break the tie (they are 1-1 against each other). Tiebreaker then is best record against highest seeded team, which currently also belongs to Butler via their win over Xavier. See link below for the tiebreaking process, which I don't think has changed in quite a while. But Hoyas winning out means they also beat Creighton and thus that tiebreaker, if Creighton finishes ahead of Xaiver, could flip to Hoyas and they end up 9th seed. And then of course there is the whole "record among all tied teams" among highest seeded teams thing (and what if there is two or three way tie among them?) if there is more than a two way tie. Those finishes/records are not yet set, so impossible to say for sure now how the tiebreakers will shake out -- but it is CERTAIN that is Butler gets to 6 wins "(hoyas currently have 2, with 3 to play) Hoyas can't catch them for 9th. Trying to figure all this stuff out was A LOT more fun when it meant exactly what time will we play in the opening quarters, let me assure you... cdn0.sbnation.com/assets/4086343/Big_East_tiebreaker-procedure.pdf

I do know that if Butler doesn't win again and GTown wins out we can catch them. I just believe that conversation is just as much in fantasy land as the one professor started about winning the BET. I really don't know how many players each team would have to lose to unspecified illness to actually lose to GTown🤷🏾♂️

That’s why I bought a theater matinee ticket for that Wednesday literally a month ago. There’s theoretically COULD and “snowball’s chance….”

At the Arena for this one. Realize it's early, but until about 10m ago I could count everyone in the arena.
Now we're in the hundreds at least.
Funny to see Bass & Anglin lead the team back out for pre-game shootaround and... put their hands up to feign acknowledgement of the barely-there crowd noise.

Look at all those empty seats!!! Yikes!! Are there more than 2,000 people there? Depends who you are asking. The deluded's answer: >4k easy Reality's answer: No, some of the crowd might be the stadium staff since who needs to work food stands with that few fans

Primo needs to stop attempting the "easy" alley oop pass as he is one of the few D1 players who can't do that pass. My count is he has 3 successful alley opp passes this year and 25 to 30 disasters. High school freshmen (if they know a kid how can dunk) can do perfect feeds 9 of 10 times.

Hoya are putting middle school rec league effort in this game. That won't cut it. As bad as it has been in recent weeks this is an abject disaster so far.

What do these guys do at practice? They are worse than when I watched them a month ago. I thought that would be impossible. Have we cashed in a fast break all season?
