'Course, only about twenty people post, but we talk enough for everyone!
It always seems lurkers outnumber members looking at the board -- I wonder how many of those we have.

I usually lurk, but will chime in just to skew the numbers.

About half of all members have posted. About 300 have posted more than ten times. And about 100 do the bulk of the heavy lifting on post counts.

I have not been to the BET since the early 90's (roughly coinciding with the arrival of kids). Has the Board ever tried a gathering there? I am a sometime poster and constant lurker and I'd be interested in meeting some of the personalities on this Board.

Speaking of posters and lurkers and old-timers and newcomers, I thought it was about time that MEGAFAN chimed in.
I've transitioned from a top-poster to an infrequent poster to a lurker, and then back again, over the last few years, both on the original board, and on this new one. Recently I have been very quiet, but I have been following things, and part of the reason I haven't had much to say, is because things have generally been so positive, there was no need for me to lift everyone's spirits with dreams of MEGAFANLAND!
Regardless, I vow to return to frequent-poster status in the near future!
Oh yeah, we often have great board meet-up's at the BET. In fact, desite my having been involved with several very successful events, such as at Cafe 31, I'm sure that every year there are at least two or three big get-together's by Hoyas either directly or peripherally related to this board, as well as many others by Hoya alums and fans alike.
OK - MEGAFAN prematurely states that the HOYAS not only make the Big Dance in 2006, but that a Sweet 16 birth is the expectation, and that a Final Four birth is the season's goal...
Just trying to heat things up a liitle, BUT please don't turn this thread into an expectations vs. goal thread, PLEASE DON'T!!!!
Congrats to the 1500'th HOYATALK member. Let's shoot for 2000 by the time the BE season kicks in!
LET'S GO HOYAS!!!

congratulations number 1500 .. a word of personal advice... try to use appropriate punctuation , grammar , and spelling when at all possible as the board grammers and grandfathers expect such to be on this board.... and i know from personal experience.... because, despite my efforts.. i frequently disppoint them.. but in any case... go hoyas and 2000 by the big east tourney... sounds GREAT. ;D ;D ;D ;Dr ps i just figured out how to use the spell check thing!!!!

I think that about 20-40 people post during the off season. A good number of people read the board during that time. I just got back from a roadtrip where I stayed with a good number of GU undergrads - they all know about the website and at least read it - if not post on it. If you go back and read the posts during the BET or after the Pitt, Nova, or Notre Dame games you'll see that there are a ton of people who only post during the season or after games.

We should do a DC meetup before one of the home games -- one of the HHC happy hours would be perfect.
Every Hoyatalk board member should wear some distinguisihing item, so we can recognize each other -- like a flower in your lapel, or striped socks, or wear your underwear on the outside, something like that.
