On this day in 1922 the roof of the Knickerbocker Theater in Washington collapsed under two feet of snow. Ninety eight people died. My father assisted Father Vincent McDonough in checking every student and finally determining that all students were safe. Father McDonough at the time was, in addition to being Moderator of Athletics, Prefect of Discipline. A scary night for Georgetown.

To this day, it remains the largest loss of life in a single event in the history of Washington. chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045462/1922-01-29/ed-1/seq-1/

What a tragedy! I am glad that your Dad and Father McD were able to check that no Hoyas had died. Something similar happened in Boston. The football team at Boston College was supposed to go to this event at the Cocoanut Grove that burned down. If I remember correctly Holy Cross beat them and they cancelled. 500 people died in the fire.
