I strongly doubt the final sentence, above. I believe Jack Magee reported to Robert Sigholtz. Prior to 1969, coaches reported to a Jesuit known as the "moderator of athletics". Strange but true. www.hoyabasketball.com/features/1972.htmNot so strange! My uncle, a Jesuit, was the moderator of the track team in the '50s and early '60s.

Not so strange! My uncle, a Jesuit, was the moderator of the track team in the '50s and early '60s. Agreed, not so strange. In the 1950s and 1960s Jesuits controlled every major position at Georgetown--presidents, deans, department chairs, and various officials such director of admissions, residence life, development, etc. The athletic department per se had no full time employees after football had been dropped in 1951. There were three former football coaches who were left were grandfathered into what was known as the Physical Education Department as erstwhile PE coaches, but the Jesuit moderator only had to worry about funding part time coaches until Jack Magee was hired in 1966 as the first full time coach. After the Jesuit moderators were deemphasized, athletics as a whole was placed under Student Affairs and Magee then reported through Student Affairs, not through Athletics, inasmuch as the athletic director (technically, the "Graduate Manager of Athletics") lacked an org chart of his own. FWIW, as Athletics grew, Frank Rienzo reported through the dean of Student Affairs well into the early 1990's. At some point the department was moved under an umbrella of ancillary services which reports through the University President's office. As far as I know, Lee Reed does not report through what is now Jeanne Lord's interim position, but through 2nd Healy.

I feel like I had witnessed this exact same game many times this year. Classic 2nd half.

Sigh! Guhoyas.com does not even have a story about the Marquette game two days after the game. I guess they have run out of nice things to say about the team.

MILWAUKEE – Despite holding a slim 36-34 advantage at the half, the Georgetown University men's basketball team could not hold on and fell 95-73 at Marquette on Saturday afternoon. With the setback at Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum, Georgetown slips to 5-12 overall and is 0-6 in BIG EAST play. Marquette improves to 13-4 on the season with a 5-1 record in league play. guhoyas.com/news/2023/1/7/hoyas-fall-short-at-marquette.aspx
