For overseeing a record-breaking basketball program. 25 consecutive Big East losses despite significant investment!
Jack DeGioia, Patrick Ewing, The Board of Directors, Lee Reed, Ronny Thompson, Georgetown University and the powers that be, a round of applause for all involved! Well Done!

Which will happen first: GOP elect a speaker or Hoyas win a BE game?

A big congratulations are in order for Patrick Ewing for solving the biggest problem for Hoya Hoops over the previous decade before he took over.
Georgetown’s biggest problem had been earning a high seed and getting upset in the NCAA tournament.
Under Pat, that’s no longer a problem.
Well done

I’m sure that you think that this is clever. I don’t, and maybe other grownups feel similarly.

I’m a little past that, but I can still tell unnecessarily bitter from fun. If this can’t make a guy bitter, what can? That’s true, but the adults in the room know when it’s time to lay off. If only briefly, I suppose.

You must be fun at a party I’m a little past that, but I can still tell unnecessarily bitter from fun. Unnecessarily bitter? I would LOVE to know at what point you think the bitterness is justified. Why don’t you and the other grownups take your holier than thou attitude out for a walk in your Velcro sneakers to pick up some Metamucil.

Pat basically said tonight that he refuses to step down on his own and that the school is going to have to fire him. Honestly, before this I still had respect for the man outside of the coaching. It’s going to be hard to ever regain that now that he has put the university in such an uncomfortable position of having to fire a program legend. If he had a shred of self-respect or care for the well-being of the program and school he would step down, but instead he’s playing a game of chicken with Jack and the Board.

Ewing has a right to his money. And, we fans, for reasons you note, have a right to remove him from the pedestal of being a revered Hoya. Never thought this day would come, but it’s here.

As has been reported, we have the money for the buyout. No reason he can’t say we have mutually agreed to terminate my contract at Georgetown.
